About
The Blue Heron Fleet was established in 1955 by Capt. Harry Nagel. The fleet has been family owned and operated with the third generation currently at the helm. Blue Heron offers excellent year round fishing at a great price. The two vessels are the largest and most comfortable in the area. Vessels are custom built aluminum drift fishers that meet and exceed the United States Coast Guard regulations. The cabins offer cushioned seating, settees for catering, and clean men's and ladies restrooms. The Vessels are equipped with state of the art navigation and fish finding equipment. We also are offering PRIVATE charter trips on our 35 foot Contender center console for up to six passengers. Both our locations are minutes from prime fishing grounds 20-40 minutes away depending on which hot spot is producing fish catches. Productive reefs (natural and artificial) exist in 50 feet through 200 feet of water. The Gulf Stream comes to its closest point of land around the Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlets. All of our fishing 'catching' is done from ¼ mile to 3 miles from shore. Catches consist of Kingfish, Snapper, Grouper, Mahi-Mahi, Sailfish, Cobia, Barracuda, Sharks, False Albacore and Wahoo. The fare includes rod, reel, bait, tackle, and fishing license. The crews have years of experience ensuring your families safety and enjoyment. Two half day excursion departing daily. No reservations necessary, but you can book online at our website. Blue Heron specializes in private charters for family, business, and corporate events with the options of fishing or cruising. My wife & I went fishing on the Blue Heron and had a blast. We didn't catch anything but the experience was amazing & the crew was first class. They were johnny on the spot with bait or to help reel in a catch, joking & cutting up while remaining professional. We will definitely book another trip on our next trip to Jupiter. Thanks Guys!

I did a morning fishing trip on the Blue Heron II, then I liked it so much I went out again for the 6 hour trip on the Blue Heron that week. I’ve done some other charters, and this is the best one I’ve been on by far. Great planning and very attentive crew. Walked away with a mess of fish both days and plenty of great pics! Next time I’m in Miami I will definitely use them again.

So happy to write a review for something I was very worried about. Hearing there could be 30 people fishing at the same time had me thinking lines tangled everywhere. But I was wrong.check in was fast and organized. Poles were loaded and ready to go. Trip to fish was short and we had our lines in the water quickly.I was fortunate to hook one quickly and that made me happy. People did catch fish. If the catching stopped for too long we moved on.Lines did get tangled but Issac and Sonic were fast to help out. Very fast to get more bait on your hook after you fed the fish. This charter was very inexpensive and they do depend on your tips. When you think what it costs to run this boat. Pay for bait and help. Never mind the up keep and dealing with difficult people day in and day out, if you have a happy experience, give them a decent tip. Also I found out after the fact, you really could help them if you bring extra food to share. They don't get a minute to eat. They deal with us and then have to clean up the boat on the way in and clean your fish. Then turn around and go right back out. Share a meatloaf sandwich or extra granola bars with the crew. I hear that's sonics favorite!! I said if i saw that in a review i would've brought something. So in putting it in my review. Well worth the money and time. I will definitely be a return customer!!

All in all I found the crew to be very experienced and helpful. Like most drift boats expect a lot of line tangles which can be somewhat frustrating. When 20 people are fishing on one side of the boat it can seem overcrowded. I was surprised that online I booked the charter for $90 plus tax total being$103.00 yet others in person paid $55 for the same 6 hour trip. Blue Heron's advertising shows pictures of dolphin ( Mahi Mahi) caught. Which is what attracted me to this charter. The crew told me they never catch Mahi Mahi so I was pretty disappointed in that. Mostly small yellow tail snapper, 1 big red snapper and some out of season grouper along with other varieties that were thrown back. The crew seems to favor some of the locals that come often and assist them more in catching fish. They have a fish score system that they collect $10 per person and the biggest fish gets the pot. In my opinion this is a scam, it seems "a friend" won the pot but I think she is an employee. Then they ask for a tip but I figured they got that through the big fish scam.

FALSE REVIEW! We do not scam anyone for any reason. We do however offer our customers a once a year frequent rider special offer. To make it even more appealing we allow our customers to use this special offer towards the 6 hour trip. We love our customers and try to give back when we can. We do catch mahi mahi as you can clearly see in our booking photos. Do we catch mahi every trip NO. We try to give all customers a five star experience. The big fish pool is voluntary and your blatant slandering is ridiculous.

Three of us went out on a 4 hour morning trip on the Blue Heron on Sunday 8/20/2023 and had a great time despite the weather. It started out raining pretty bad but once we started heading out cleared up although windy and a bit rough. The Captain and crew were amazing and wasted no time keeping bait on your rig and back in the water to get in maximum fishing time.
When we got back they offered to clean/filet the fish for everyone, and ice if needed for the trip home to keep everything fresh.

Thank you Captain Johnny and crew for a memorable trip.

The boat was in great shape everything was new and clean . The crew was polite and professional, the kept us constantly baited and maximized our fishing time. They went out of there west to make the trip a great memory for my grandson. Thank you to all the crew, we will return.

We purchased our ticket Wednesday morning to go fishing Friday morning. We got there at 7am so we could get the back of the boat other wise all do is get tangled all day long. When they finally started boarding the mate told us we're we can go to fish. We asked about the back of the boat and we're just ignored and now we know why cause the local jupiter friends of the captain came out to fish. He gave those 6-8 people discount which I could careless but paid full price got there at 7 a d the friends that got there at 8:02 got the back of the boat. This is the 3rd trip.with this captain and caught nothing. The mates did a good job but not happy with the captain cause of the back of the boat issue and here we are waiting on rigs and bait cause the mates where overwhelmed and instead of the captain helping he just continued fishing with his friends in the back at a boat. Do you self a favor doing the 6 hour trip we cruised 45 minutes in and out so thats 1.5 hour no fishing. There rods don't have much weight so your hook never goes to the bottom. I thought it was first come first serve all we did was get tangled all day long but the captain and his buddies had a great day of fishing and no tangles. Also just a little advice bait buckets should not be placed where you're sitting cause evrytime they got more bait all.the blood from the bait was all over the sitting area. Jupiter has the good old boys mentality I have been up here 3 years and they like the money there making and the values of there homes have tripled but they really don't like anyone that's not a local.

Our half day fishing trip out of Jupiter was fun, and very well organized, on time, and returned at planned time of noon. My husband and I caught 6 fish between us, and the guides were very quick to help with bait and removing the fish! We did not catch large fish, but they did filet the four fish that were “keepers” as we call them back home, one of which was a nice sized snapper, which would have been delicious. We were disappointed in that we were unable to find a restaurant willing to prepare them for us, and unfortunately had to discard them. It may be helpful to provide a list of current restaurants to call to check on whether they “fix your catch” as my Google search was outdated, and two restaurants that formerly did this have stopped this service. There was also a little too much smoking going on in the front of the boat that drifted back when we would travel to new fishing spots. The captain and crew seemed to work very hard to help us all in catching fish. We really enjoyed a lovely time fishing, and the weather was perfect! Thank you to Captain John, and helpers John and Christian!

I've been frequently this operation for over 20 yrs. I usually go once or twice a year..throughout these years the service by the mates on the deck is among.the best I've ever seen. This is very important to the customers experience. The fishing can be fast or sometimes slow but I feel the captain and crew are fast, friendly, and entertaining

Fun 1/2 day fishing trip out of the Jupiter inlet. Michael and Solomon did a great job keeping the guests entertained with laughter and kept our lines with fresh bait. I would highly recommend spending a day with your family fishing with Michael and the crew.
