I arrived on a Tuesday morning and they were closed. I didn't see any warnings of this. I had a current copy of the National Park brochure and I'd been to the website. An employee who was there taking inventory or something said they had...More

We've been to a couple forts on the upper east coast and we were not able to really see in them, mostly just look from the outside. So this was nice to be able to actually go into the fort and look around.

Visiting our national parks is a must-do anytime you are in a new place, and this one was no exception. Our little boy earned a junior park ranger badge, and the rangers were great to work with all the visitors including the kids. The $20...More

Watch the movie so you know what you are looking at as you walk. It is not self explanatory, but the movie makes it real. It only takes about 10 minutes to watch it. Bring water on a hot day and wear comfortable walking shoes....More

We enjoyed it but would have gotten more out of it if the kids were a little older. Wish we could have gone on a guided tour but didn't think the kids would be quiet and pay attention. Still glad we went. It was amazing...More

I have never been here since it was not open to visitors when I lived in P'Cola in the 70's. It has been restored very well and you can easily do a self-guided tour. Plan on 1-2 hours. Non-military people can only enter through a...More

Fort Barrancas sits on top of Fort San Carlos, awesome place to explore, total access including tunnels and a great view of the Pensacola Bay and entrance to the Gulf of Mexico, lots of cool places to explore inside and great for the whole family

Really enjoyed this place it was a part of history that I didn’t know much about. If you have to choose with this or Fort Pickens I would choose for Pickens, a little bit better fort to see.

I went to both in the same day they are an hour apart and I would definitely choose Fort Pickens. The drive there is beautiful and worth the trip but a little long. Fort Barrancas is on a military base and a little hard to... More
