We stayed at Rosen inn pointe Orlando. It’s bang opposite pointe Orlando.
Pointe Orlando has changed quite a bit, I’m guessing since covid. It no longer has a Hollister, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria secrets or Armani and a lot of other shops have gone. For the first time ever we did not hire a car as the hire costs were ridiculous. We used the i-Ride trolley service. $20 each for a fourteen day pass. The secret to this is definitely use their App all the busses have GPS and so working out when they would arrive was easier to do. Apparently they used to be every 15 mins but not now! There are probably 6 on the red line and 3 on the green line. But you soon get used to it. If you’re going to universal studios / island of adventure get off at the universal hotels on universal boulevard and hop on their free busses to city walk. An uber to Florida mall from pointe Orlando cost us £13 each way and Disney springs to pointe Orlando was £8 but as uber does the price can go up & down depending on how busy they are. If you are wanting one from a theme park get on a free bus and get one from somewhere else they charge a premium for theme park pick ups. Universal parking is $27 per day.
Eating out is also becoming expensive. They also expect an 18,20 or 22% tip. These will be the options on the credit card machine. There is a way to add a customer chosen amount or you can leave cash. To put it in perspective on I-drive a Big Mac regular meal is $10 and a foot long tuna from subway is $8.5.
Even as I type this it feels like one big moan but we had a brilliant time.

Only ever visited Applebee's once before about 5 years ago.
Met and seated by the owner/manager, the waiter was in good form and was helpful without being overbearing. Beautifully clean with a good ambiance.
Food hot and tasty, beer cold, what more can you ask for.
As we left, the manager made an effort to see us out.
Would visit this restaurant every time I'm Orlando.

We stayed in a hotel on i-Drive and it’s a great location to get to all the major attraction. You can use various buses to get to all the parks, or rent vehicles. When you factor in rental, fuel and parking we opted for Uber.
A lot of the restaurants and super markets are priced according to their captive market with a few exceptions- make sure you read reviews and get an idea on prices first. You can get taken off I drive and the prices are more as the locals would pay in terms of super markets.

As much as I love International Drive, it has started to become overcrowded and just way too busy for its own good. With the expansions of The Pointe and Icon Park, the rest of the Drive is becoming desperate and tatty with a lot of the restaurants completely empty and cutting back their menus. North of Sand Lake is very cheap and tacky so we prefer to be south of their. Stayed at Rosen Pointe which is fine.

Wow what a selection of shops, restaurants and attractions down a straight road!
Only issue was due to covid and businesses laying off a lot of people, many restaurants were so short staffed and nearly all were hiring.
Most nights it took a 3 or 4 attempts trying different places to get in to eat… they were either taking no more customers in or the wait was between 1-2 hours.
Other problem was the crossings. Now if you’ve been down I Drive you know it’s near impossible to cross the road at the junctions so surprisingly and scarily the pedestrian crossings weren’t working. The 4 near McDonald’s in the square one night weren’t working and crowds of people literally had to risk the run over the road. Further up the road opposite Chillies wasn’t working the whole week we were there… don’t know if this is a normal thing in the states but on such a busy road it’s not good!

Just returned from Orlando on 24/12/22, our first overseas holiday since the beginning of covid. I am understand that covid had an impact on businesses etc. A lot of money has been spent recently around where the large wheel has been built and on the new hotels on the former wet and wild site. From the large McDonald’s on sand lake road to where wet and while was is awful. There are empty shops, boarded up properties and rubbish and litter everywhere. It’s an absolute disgrace. There used to be more pride in the place but now it’s not very appealing to tourists. I Drive will no doubt get hit as visitors will go elsewhere. Please think seriously if you are thinking of going. One other negative is that shops and restaurants/eateries have gone very expensive. I went to subway on international and for 2 foot longs and some cookies it was $23, and with the dollar being near on one to one you need to be a premiership footballer to afford things, especially if you have kids in toe.

They say the I-drive is similar to the Vegas Strip but it isn’t. the drive is a very long road and wide and not conducive for walking unless you are walking only within a 30 minute range. To get from one end to end, you will need to have a rented car or a day pass lynx (bus) or iride trolley ticket (will save you money if you have multiple trips in a day). There are several interesting attractions accessible from the international drive - several premium outlets, the Icon Park which houses the Whee, Madame Tussauds, Sealife Aquarium, titanic exhibition, wonderworks, Dezerland, Fun Spot and many restaurants - buffets, fine dining, and quick service. Our Hotel was located just across the Icon Park so was great to be able to explore international drive by foot and by bus!

I-Drive has a variety of restaurants, with different price points and many with patio seating. There's an endless array of gift shops if you're looking to bring home some souvenirs. You've also got lots of entertainment options...from a comedy club to the ferris wheel, from Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum to Ripley's Believe It or Not...and more. There's never a dull moment on I-Drive.

This road gets you to everywhere you want to go. Restaurants, Hotels, Discount stores, supermarkets, drug stores, minigolf, shows, etc. There is really no rating of International Drive, but of all the places there is to see and do along the strip. The only advice to give is to expect heavy traffic wherever you go, especially during holiday time, and plan the extra time from getting from point A to B.

If one wants to experience the essence of Orlando, take a long leisurely drive along International Drive.
Mediocre to elegant lodging, fast-food outlets to high-end eateries, kitschy souvenir shops to fashionable franchises, interesting attractions to touristy quagmires; it's all there, bordering one long wide meandering avenue. (The traffic itself can sometimes be reminiscent of the lines in the area's major Parks.)
All the yin and yang of one of America's premier tourist destinations, condensed along this route; the drive becomes an Orlando attraction in of itself.

What is International Drive like at the end of November?
We went in Jul/Aug a couple of years ago and wonder if it will be the same. Are there plenty of tourists about and is everything still open?
Thank you

I’m coming to Orlando next week and staying at one of the Rosen Inns on International Drive. What is the cheapest way to get to and from the Disney Parks?
Written March 9, 2020
We used Uber. It is fast, convenient, and cheap. You can bus it but it didn't look very convenient to us. It is cheap, though. Try not to use credit cards to pay for your meals on International Drive. Both my wife and I had our cards cloned last visit. Cash is best. Have fun.

Could anyone recommend which is the best hotel for a family of four to stay in on International Drive? And also how easy is it to get around to Disney world and Universal?
Written January 26, 2020
Good question. That all depends on you. There's hundreds of hotels in that area. You can get to international drive easily even if you don't get a hotel on it. Also, it is very easy to navigate around to all of the theme parks. Very easy.

Thinking about booking up to Orlando in 2020 but want to stay somewhere central to all theme parks any suggestions? Also do buses over there go to all theme parks and how do they work?

HI, I am also looking at going back to Florida next year, we usually rent a villa but are thinking about slitting the holiday with a week in a hotel near Orlando and a week driving down to the Keys.
The hotel choice is endless and varies depending on budget significantly, i guess your holiday activities will affect the location and type, having said that International drive has loads to do, but Kissinmee is nearer the parks and has load of hotel option, as an option in the Kissimee area you can get a villa with pool for the price of a decent hotel (£100 per night)

Hi I am thinking about going to Orlando in November and want to stay on International Drive. What are the best hotels that are reasonably priced with pool, breakfast free shuttle etc Recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi, we’ve been going to Orlando for 15 years for Xmas & New Years and you can’t go wrong with the Rosen inn point Orlando, they do a breakfast buffet but there is some many places around there you can eat if you wanted to go somewhere different. They have a couple of pools and also a bar where you can have a beer 🍺 after a long day around the parks . It does put on a free shuttle to the parks and also the I ride trolley 🚋 stops right outside if you want to go to the outlets and also stops outside see world. Have a great trip .

Whats a nice hotel what doesn’t cost the earth with a pool and water slide? It will be our first time there with my family and dont know where to start

We usually stay at Marriott Cypress Harbour. It's a beautiful resort, with great amenities and staff.
We also usually stay off-season, so can't comment on current pricing.
