Highly recommend. We have been twice during visiting and both times were awesome. The first visit we had a family of sea cows go right under our kayak and the second we have 50-75 monkey go right over head crossing trees. We also saw alligators, turtles, birds, tons of fish and found some snakes too.
Only negative the large boats and annoying Fish and wildlife people.

I've been to this park several times. The glass bottom boat is a treat. The captain was knowledgeable and the water is amazingly clear. It's inexpensive enough to take the entire family and your kids will love it. We also rented the tandem kayak and had a blast seeing the many turtles, alligators, fish, birds and the occasional monkey. While walking on their boardwalks a manatee glided by. You won't be disappointed.

My friend had some mobility problems so I was not able to fully enjoy all that was available to see or do. We did however, enjoy just sitting in the rockers under the picnic pavilion area along the water, watching the boats and beautiful scenery around us. Will certainly return to enjoy more of the available activities. Some of the facilities for dining and shopping are undergoing renovation therefore not available.

I visited here when I was a child with fond memories. We visited last week and it was so disappointing. All the shops were closed due to asbestos. Says they don’t know when they will reopen. The boat safari was gone. The glass bottom boat was the only thing there. were no monkeys in the trees and no animals the only thing to see where the statues in the bottom of the river. Apparently you can go into the river and the board and kayak but other than that there’s nothing here to do don’t waste your day

A friend and I decided that kayaking would be the perfect activity for a hot June day. We headed down to the park and arranged to kayak 5 miles down to Ray Wayside Park and get a shuttle back. The river was cool, clear and lovely with lots of flowers, turtles, and one fat monkey sitting on a branch next to the river. When we arrived at Ray Wayside, our shuttle was waiting. The pleasant and enthusiastic drivers loaded our kayaks and we stepped into their new, clean, air conditioned van. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Amazing, magical place. The largest Crystal Springs in the country. Kayaking, glass bottom boats, walking trails, alligators & Monkeys!!! The shops are not able to open yet (covid), but people were keeping their distance & wearing masks where needed. Great picnic areas & gorgeous scenery. Highly recommend this park!

Weather was incredible and we have loved Silver Springs for 40+ years. This trip we saw a Manatee (first time ever), lots of Monkees, and of course lots of fish and birds. It is a great trip, I recommend doing it via Kayak.

Our most recent visit was a kayak trip down the Silver River to Ray Wayside Park. Excellent chance to see the real Florida before pollution (hyacinth and algae growth) kills off the stream like the Wekiva River.Anyway, we were at this park in the eighties. Many people have remarked how the area is rundown. Well, I say to you, it is not a tourist trap anymore. Some things could use some investment by the State. However, I agree that it should be allowed to return to the natural state, before someone made it the first "Florida Theme Park". It is now a State park for the general public and like all Sate parks should be as natural as possible in my opinion. So if you like to observe nature and like a leisurely pace, head on down the Silver River in a Kayak.

On 7/22/24, my daughter and I visited this park. I wanted to paddle board with her so looked on this website to see prices and times. This was 430 pm. Said availability open 445 and 5 pm. Walked up to the paddle boards and read sign that said walk ins and used that line since I did not reserve on website.,I waited until a man said may I help you. I said I want to rent 2 paddle boards. He said, sorry we are closed for the day. I said sign said open. He said sorry closed. I went to website and reserved 5 pm slot and went to reservation line. A woman said, we are closed. I said, no your not, I made a reservation. She said are you f@@king kidding me in front of my 10 year old. She yelled at the man the originally said we are closed and said this guy made a damn reservation! He said unreal, and said well I guess we have to take them then. The attitude between these 2 people were unacceptable and should be fired. I did the 1 hour session but the lady was huffing and puffing and slamming things down while I signed waiver. When I returned she claimed she gave me a lanyard and wanted it back, but did not give me one. She was extremely rude and said whatever to me when I said I did not have a lanyard. She aggressively handed my keys to me mumbling curse words in front of my 10 year old. I visited this park from Maryland and was excited to see this park, but these 2 individuals running the paddle board shop ruined my visit!

We paddled the five-mile trip from the park to Ray Wayside Park. It was absolutely stunning! Monkeys, otters, manatees, alligators, TONS of turtles, beautiful trees, and crystal clear water. I wish it wasn't hours away from my home.

Gostaria de saber se no local há crocodilos/jacarés e se há perigo pare ir com crianças?

We planned on tomorrow taking a trip stacking the river. With the chilly temps (we are from mn) would you find something else to do?

Hi, l personaly don’t like to go out on the water when the weather is cold. However, many people don’t mind the cold. The water always makes it feel a bit colder in the winter. On the up side, it will probably be less congested with people. Have a nice day.

Very reasonable charge for about a half hour tour. If there are enough people waiting in line, they will load a boat earlier than scheduled time. The "captains" of the glass bottom boats are Coast Guard certified which is very comforting also.

Yes, the park was ADA compliant when state of Florida purchased it...glass bottom boats have ramp and IF handicapped staff at kayak launch will assist. I work with Tampa Bay ye mystic crew... Pegleg Pete charity serving kids that lost arm or leg and need to learn use of new prostetic...kayaking great activity for them. Pedal kayak for legs... regular for arm. Hope this answers sufficiently.

Is the canoe or kayak hire done on a independent basis, or is it as Jerry D suggests as a group with a DKT tour guide, also what are the costs?
Written October 20, 2017
You may rent single kayaks for $15 for the first hour, $20 for two hours, Full Day rental for $30. You do not need to be part of a tour or group.

We did do the glass bottom boat tour and it was good. It gives you some knowledge of the area. We also kayaked but the tour gave you more insight on what you were looking at. The captain we had was very good and told some good stories. I would say it was worth it.
