You can’t go in at the moment, but it is worth admiring the architecture from the outside (it really stands out amongst the shiny new skyscrapers) and reflecting on its place in history, welcoming Cuban people.

The structure itself is nice and while classic architecture but its real significance is its welcoming of Cuban refugees to freedom that sets it apart.

It makes us smirk as we wish to figure out why someone thought an attempt at Statue of Liberty here in Miami is a good idea.

Beautiful historic building in downtown Miami among all the skyscrapers. They were not open when we arrived so did not get to see the museums, however the significance of the building was inspiring as a place for the Cubans to be processed and be welcomed to America. Love the name "Freedom Tower".

When I came from Cuba in the 60's my mother and I got our immigration papers there and were given our monthly allowance of food items. Always be grateful to the US for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to live in the best country in the world.

Not only is the building historic and spectacular ( beautiful ceiling in the foyer) but it has two museums. Go up the stairs to the 2nd floor and you will see the photo collection of the years that the arriving Cuban immigrants were processed here. Then, in the back of the room is the Kislak Center featuring the amazing Culture And Change In The Early Americas. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 6, this shows a wide arrangement of art from the many cultures in the Americas BEFORE the Spanish arrived. One of the most beautiful is the Mayan Ceramic Throne Box 800-1000 CE. Don't miss Freedom Tower...a Miami treasure. And.... you can get there by Metro Mover outer circle....

Freedom Tower, set in the heart of Miami downtown can be considered as its prime landmark.
It's a historic edifice built in a Spanish style, resembling the one in Seville. It was built in the 20's of 20c.
Primary it served as Miami's newspaper offices, while later in the 60's it became some kind of Ellis island, but here in Miami.
During many years it housed a growing number of Cuban refugees fleeing from Castro's regime. It was their first station in US to receive medical aid, examined and registered.
Today, this iconic bldg houses a nice contemporary museum, mainly of Cuban and Latin American origin.

A beautiful building now manged by Miami Dade College. Offers rotating art exhibits show case local and student artists.
The lobby and staircase are lovely. It is a peak of what early Cuban exiles experienced upon arriving from Cuba

Freedom Tower is located just across the street from the American Airlines Arena, you can't miss it. I personally loved this tower, and it was lightened up pretty good.
