About
Become an astronaut for a day at NASA's visitor center on Merritt Island. Start your visit with a bus tour of the spaceport before working your way through the various exhibits and displays, including artifacts from space missions, and ending at the Atlantis Space Shuttle. Arrive early for shorter lines or plan your visit during the quieter seasons like fall and winter. With so much to see, you can easily spend more than a day here. For space enthusiasts, you might want to consider the two-day admission tickets that allow a return visit within a certain timeframe. – Tripadvisor

One of those attractions that you have to see at least once
There are attractions to see and there are attractions that have to be seen. Like Monument Valley or the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore or Yosemite or Yellowstone. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Merritt Island, Florida, is one of those "have to be seen" places. Located north/northwest of Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic Ocean, due east of Orlando, the visitor center at NASA's Kennedy Space Center opened in 1967 and features exhibits, historic spacecraft and memorabilia, sows, two IMAX theaters and a range of bus tours of the spaceport. Nearly 2 million people visit annually. See the Gemini 9A spacecraft, a life-sized replica of the Hubble Space Telescope, the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit that contains the Atlantis orbiter and the Shuttle Launch Experience, a simulated ride into space, and attend a daily presentation by a veteran NASA astronaut. Take a bus tour of the separate Apollo/Saturn V Center and visit the Rocket Garden inside the front entrance, an outdoor display of historic rockets that put Americans and satellites in space, and the "Forever Remembered" exhibit commemorating the 14 astronauts lost in the Space Shuttle Challenger and Space Shuttle Columbia disasters, including personal artifacts, two rescued pieces of the Shuttles and footage of the physical and emotional recovery. Also visit the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, which focuses on America's first astronauts and features such artifacts as a Redstone rocket and the control center for Project Mercury.

Lots of things to do inside if it's too hot outside
One word of warning - Fridays (esp. in the spring) can be "Field Trip Friday" and there will be bus loads of grade school aged kids everywhere. The staff were wonderful - especially the ladies taking the pictures at the Apollo exhibit. The Orbit Café is mostly automated (kiosks) and works well. The food is pricey (as you would expect) but it's good.

    A Source if American Pride
Up to now, my wife & I are not the type who have been bitten by the bug of space exploration all that much. Our 12-year-old daughter’s passion for it inspired us to go to Kennedy Space Center and we are completely fascinated. It was WAY beyond expectations, especially the part where they take you to the exact command center where they Apollo launch was overseen. It is very definitely a full-day outing. For us, it is probably a place where you have to content yourself that you’ll come back. There is a lot of walking involved but, really, we found that we reached a brain saturation point where we could only take in so much intriguing info and still had more we wanted to see. We strongly recommend it. I have seen some reviewers say the food isn’t that great. We thought it was fine.

    Great history lesson!
It was a wonderful experience to see the Apollo rocket and space shuttle. The bus tour was great to see how big the complex is and also saw a few alligators in the water from the bus. The IMAX was good, great gift shops, didn’t have time to do everything but thoroughly enjoyed all that we did. Only downside was the bazillion school kids there on field trips and not chaperoned very well.

A great place to get Lost in Space!
We arrived as the gates opened and stayed until the Center closed. Seeing the size and magnitude of these scientific marvels was mind-blowing. We ran out of time before seeing the last area. The launch simulation rides were entertaining, but the lines for them, in retrospect, might not have been worth the wait. We did the bus tour first while there was no wait. The cost of admission is pricey, but worth it to enjoy America's Space heritage.

    Awesome Day/Wonderful Place
It really does take all day to explore. One cool thing is that there are a lot of movies to watch which makes the sights more meaningful. Tips: They will let you bring in a soft-sided cooler. Though the food prices aren’t bad either. The bus tour is really awesome. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the flight simulator. It wasn’t worth the wait.

    A must do experience.
A very good day visit. We had a general day admission ticket. We could just about fit seeing everything on offer in the day (9am to 6pm). A short guided tour of the Rocket Garden was a good introduction. The Atlantis Space Shuttle exhibition building is a must. The highlight is the bus tour past the Vehicle Assembly to the Apollo/Saturn V centre where at least 90 minutes is required to see the exhibits. It is worth going outside the building by the Moon Rock Café to view the LC39A and LC39B launch pads in the distance. Do make time to experience some of the inside presentations like Journey to Mars and the IMAX theatre. We visited the third week of March, and it was Spring Break and so the KSC was crowded with youngsters of all ages. Other times might have made for a calmer visit. KSC, I think, could learn a bit from Disney on handling large visitor numbers. The stores had slow moving lines for purchasing and few payment points. Even arrival and paying for parking entry was chaotic with the credit card payment machines not working efficiently.

Can’t wait to return for more
We got there when they opened. We headed for the bus tour first. Wow! The narration on the way out was really interesting and we spent a lot of time at the attraction they dropped us off at. The driver on the way back was awesome! We went to almost all of the attractions and were very impressed. The only problem we had was at the newest attraction, Gateway, where you choose which adventure…Red Planet, Unchartered, Cosmic, etc. most people were choosing Unchartered. At the beginning it said 45 minutes, which we assumed was the wait time. 1.5 hours later we were informed that there was an issue with false starts and they would move us to a different line to see Unchartered. There continued to be a problem. Had we known there were so many problems we probably would have left to see more attractions. They kept changing staff every 10-15 minutes so the new staff did not know about all of the problems. When we finally got in Unchartered we didn’t care for it. The music was so loud that you could not hear the narration. The move your seats in front to the speakers so it is hard to hear everything. We had lunch at Orbit Cafe and it was very good. This is an amazing place and I highly recommend visiting. It is a place that all ages can enjoy.

If you ever wanted to be an astronaut...
I have dreamt of coming here since I saw the movie Space Camp in the 80's! It was a flop at the box office, but you can see it on YouTube now. My favorite part of this experience was the presentation of the space shuttle Atlantis. As a child of the 80's it seriously pulled at my heart strings! We got there at opening and left at closing and could have used another 1/2 a day. And I don't spend a lot of time reading everything on site - I take pictures of plaques so I can read them on the plane ride home. We did the bus tour out to Apollo first, and should have had lunch out there before returning. The only downfall of our day was the crowd for lunch back at the main area. That and missing the chat with an astronaut because we were too immersed in the Atlantis experience, but we chatted with one a few months ago in our hometown so not a total bust. We always have more questions though. The presentation of everything is very well done. We all learned so much. It was great to learn more about the things that we were aware of as children but now with Adult understanding. At the end of the day my 14 year old said, "Wow, being an astronaut takes bravery, resilience, and good mental health." We were all so impressed by all the people who have worked in the space program and so thankful for the discoveries that have come from it that benefit our lives today. If you are staying in the area definitely consider 2 days.

    Whole family fun
We came with our 5 and 7 year olds. My husband was last here as a child himself so he was very excited to revisit! We bought our tickets online from UndercoverTourist for a discount. When we arrived followed the recommendation of the staff and started with the bus tour. We spent a total of 4 hours there. Although there were MANY gift shops, we managed to keep the kids motivated to keep moving with Planet Play as the reward. Planet play was great! Especially once we found our way around. There really is only one way in and out which is great for child safety but the dark lights and kids running everywhere can take a bit to trust. Definitely not for helicopter parents! We stayed closer to our 5 year old incase they got “stuck” but they ended up tackling almost everything! In each building you follow a structured “tour” of sorts: well programmed videos followed by large exhibits often with a hands on component.

Very nicely done! Pleasant staff. Educational and it was enjoyable to remember Apollo and the Shuttle. They also did a good job of honoring those who gave their lives to the space program. Worth the visit.

Well worth a visit but get there early or plan on two days. Extra fee for parking stinks. Be prepared to walk. Bring your own water bottle.

This was a wonderful place to visit. 5 of us- family. We got a 2 day ticket- we went for 2 hrs at end of day, then the next full day. We also opted for the Explorer Tour. We could have spent a little more time to see more, and I'd love to be able to view a launch. Beautifully presented exhibits and films which were so informative and interesting. Clean, nice looking. Nice employees. Everything just very well done, presented, and orchestrated.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this visit as much as I did. We decided to go on the Explore tour and it is worth it. Being bussed to launch sites and seeing a rocket on the launch pad was memorable.
This is a wonderful experience for seniors as well as younger people. We saw several school groups and the Space Center was very accommodating and encouraging to children.
However- there was No clear directions anywhere (exit doors in several directions were only for emergencies only) but if you know you can exit out of the gift shops you can find your way out of any of any of the exhibits.

This was a complete waste of money. I booked through a 3rd party. We went over xmas (I expected it to be busy) however it was horrendous. We queued 2 hours to get in, by the time we got in all the attractions were fully booked (11am) we queued 30 mims for food. There was no where to sit, the coach trips stopped at 2pm! So we missed that by the time we actually ate. The food was cold and horrible, the toilets were flithy and generally just horrendous experience!

I have tried to get a refund via the third party but Kennedy are refusing. Awful customer service!!! We was told by the ticket team that if we booked direct she would refund then but to contact the third party and arrange it so we was lied too as they are refusing to refund.

Im down £150 and wasted a day of my florida holiday.

The weather was great and the crowd was minimal. The only reason I didn't give it a 5, was because the bus tour was limited to just the shuttle launch pad. I would definitely go back again if we were to return to Florida.

We were only here one day and probably should plan on three days. What a great experience. We only got through less than half the park.

Wish we had more time. This place is amazing. We only spent 3 hours but could've easily spent 3 days. So much interesting information, the visual effects, and real-life artifacts were so entertaining and remarkable. Add this place to your bucket list.!

The IMAX and the Heros and Legends were both educating and fun! We were quite overwhelmed by the enormity of the rockets, and the buildings that they're in, and everyone was so friendly! It was an amazing experience for us and our daughters (mid-late 20's), and I would definitely recommend going!!
