Gorgeous beach and Lagoon..Worth the trip!
This beach is a hidden gem! I didnt know it existed. It is gorgeous and peaceful. The lagoon was so cool. My 5 year old grandson LOVED IT. THE BEACH amazing! We even played at the little park. The walk to the beach is longer but Im not complaining..its Gorgeous and its exercise. Just make sure to bring a hat or umbrella if you have little ones and older adults..along the way. Ive been here sevrral times. If you stay late near lagoon or playing area..bring mosquito spray.Well worth the trip! My favorite beach!

    Worth The 15 Minute Walk
As of 2/26/24 the first set of bathrooms are not open but there are pots-potties to the left of the building. I believe it’s better and a bit closer if you drive to the left of the building, past the pots-potties and try to park in the next parking lot. It will be a bit closer and there is a small, single bathroom open at the end of that parking lot. It took us about 15 minutes to walk from the first parking lot to the beach. It’s an easy flat walk on soft sand. Make sure you take everything that you will need for the day. The water was clear, waves were small and the dolphins swim pretty close to the shore. If you walk down the beach to the right, you will find sea shell trees where people leave their memories behind. It’s really beautiful. There are a bunch of different birds to be seen at this beach. It’s absolutely gorgeous

    Loved the Birds and Beach
This beach is a hidden gem. We didn’t know what to expect. We parked at the first lot ($10) and had no problem getting a space. The bathrooms are closed (porta potties are available) and there was a nice playground. You first come to a lagoon. I stayed here and loved watching all the birds (heron, pelicans, so many others) and the fish jumping in the lagoon. My son crossed the lagoon and followed the trail on the other side to the beach. Very peaceful and quiet compared to many other beaches.

    Go on an adventure !
We were surprised at how huge the beach was. BUT the walk was too long for the kids. We did it but man was it hot. The beach was pretty and water was nice and clear. Lots of shells. Wear beach shoes! Got to bring an umbrella and drinks. We parked all the way to the left and did not go thru the lagoon. Handicap area. Thought it might have been quicker to walk thru the lagoon. We are not beach people usually- but wanted an adventure. It is pretty, worth going.

    Sand Dollar Heaven
If you are looking for sand dollars, this is the beach for you. Although it is a bit of a hike, it is less crowded than South Beach and worth your time. As well, during the month of February, an annual visitor builds sand sculptures that are amazing.

    A Must Do!
This is a must do! I'm not sure who loved it more, the kids or I? Easy walk to the beach through the water. Clean beach, parking lot, playground and trails. White sand, clear water that the kids could walk out and play. SO many shells! I wish we could go to Tigertail Beach everyday, but sadly we dont live here. Nice playground right off the parking lot for the kids to play on with a lot of shade. This location was in our top 3 favorite things about Marco Island.

    Excellent beach experience
It is but if a walk to get to the beach but worth it. One of the times we visited we waded through the lagoon to the beach which then brought you through a mangrove covered path that was a cool way to get to the beach. The water in the lagoon was not quite waste deep but that might change with the tide. The other direction you walked on sand the whole way around to the beach. We liked both ways. If you have a lot of stuff you would want to take the beach path. We just had a couple of backpacks and a backpack cooler so easily went through the lagoon. There are lots of cool shells on this beach. If it is calm you can find lots of sand dollars about knee to thigh deep water. We also found conch shells. If you do to the end of the beach to the lagoon side there is a sand bar you can walk out on. Found large conch shells out here. If it is windy it is still fun but shelling will be from the sand as it is too hard to see them with the waves. There are no bathrooms on the beach. Highly recommend!

Beautiful but could be much better.
It is a beautiful beach but not necessarily family friendly! First of all the parking was hard to locate. It’s about 3/4 of a mile to get TO the beach. No signs letting you know where to go or the distance. Do they actually want people to go there?? If a storm hits suddenly..good luck!! There is one shower to wash off that I saw. It could be more family friendly with a bit of effort.

    Long walk
There should be more signage on where to go to get to the beach. The walk is 3/4/mile, on a hot day it’s exhausting. Someone posted you can trek through the water to get there, didn’t know didn’t try. The beach is pretty but in that area there’s more beaches that are more accessible and they do charge $10. Maybe they should do a trolley like lovers key does.

    Best beach
Best beach in my opinion. Especially if you want to avoid crowds. Returning this year again. Tiger tail is one of my favorite beaches to go to. Enough shells to go shell hunting but not so much to make it hurt to walk. The sand is soft and beautiful. Best of both worlds

If you access this beach through the public access, it is absolutely not worth it whatsoever.

The lot is incredibly far from the beach and there is zero shade. If you are carrying anything more than yourself, a towel and water bottle, you will regret the walk. Do not even bother with small children and elderly. Right when you think you have approached the beach, you realize you still have a 15 min walk to see the ocean and then a 10 min walk to get to the ocean. The water is at least cool(ish) but with sanibel being 40 mins away, this beach is not worth it.

I’m serious when I say don’t do it. Our party nearly passed out from the walk. We hated it so much that all we wanted to do was leave but once you are here, you can’t walk back until the sun goes down so you’re stuck.

We arrived mid-afternoon, so we asked the gate attendant if we had to pay the full $8.00 daily rate. He said if we wanted to walk a little farther, we could pay just $3.00 for 2 hours. We did this and walked to the lagoon and then the beach. It was a beautiful day and a very nice walk. The beach is nice and we walked along and saw several sand sculptures. I didn't know if we would've walked just a bit farther down the beach, we would've seen many sand dollars. We did see some people with sand dollars in their buckets, but we didn't get any. There are a lot of shells here and I did get a good bit of them. Nice, quiet beach.

We spent nearly a whole day at Tigertail, going prepared with a picnic, water and sunscreen. We parked in a nice, safe parking lot where there is a bathroom, walking through some woods and came upon a mud flat. We watched others of all ages wade through the murky estuary and gingerly followed behind. We got braver as the water got shallower and were distracted by the amazing array of wildlife. Once on the other side we walked a short way through some lovely shrubs and came out on a beautiful white sand beach. We followed others towards a tree that looked like it had cotton balls in it. The white objects turned out to be bleached white shells, some signed and dated but all MAGICAL! We found sand dollars, lots of cool shells and swam for hours. I would recommend beach shoes as there are so many shells on the beach and in the water. A lovely day-just be prepared!

Ease of parking and payment in dollars or card at ticket machine.

A bit of a walk around to the beech as we didn't want to wade through the waterway from car park to beech due to red tide.

Beech area was brilliant with dolphin sightings.

Watch your time for walking back to the car as the waterway floods with the tide and you have to wade through the water back to your car.

Overall a great place and will go back - miles of beech to explore.

lagoon needs a bridge. You have to cross this muddy and smelly lake carrying coolers and chairs, children and elderly . Not fun. Beach is far from bathroom facilities. Good luck if you have to use the toilet. Mosquitos eat you alive even with bug spray. Blood suckers. They have to spray arear near parking lot. But they dont. other than that the beach is beautiful.

Our first visit to Tigertail Beach. We crossed the lagoon, highly recommend water shoes. Walked down to Sanddollar Spit, found some sand dollars. Saw a couple manatees (mom and baby) being rescued as they got stuck in the mud with the outgoing tide, it was so neat to see. If you are going to cross the lagoon, highly recommend a low tide cross, water was up to my waist at a couple points. Get up early if you want to find sand dollars, sounds like people get up and out early to pick a lot of them up. We saw one lady with a sack full of sand dollars, couldn’t believe it. We found a few, less than a dozen, and we were fine with that. I would like to let people know that when you pay for the all day parking ($8.00 fee), it also includes South Marco Beach and some other beaches in Naples. I wasn’t aware of this, the guy working the gate told us. Please ask Them for clarification. Highly recommend a trip across the lagoon, no gators, lots of jumping fish and birds.

My wife and I recently visited Tigertail Beach for a beach walk. The beach itself is beautiful and wide with beautiful white sand of the gulf...lot's to like. While parts of it offer a backdrop of buildings and condos', much of it is more pristine with natural vegetation if that is your preference. You do need to be aware that it is quite a hike from the parking area to the beach in that you either need to walk around a very large lagoon or walk through it as we saw many do in swimsuits. The guide books and the park ranger taking parking admission do a good job of reminding you about that feature. One nice thing is that your daily parking fee includes in/out privileges for the day. You can also use your parking receipt at another beach area on the south end of the island, which we were not able to try.

If you are renting a vehicle (even if it's a scooter) it's considered a commercial vehicle & they will try to charge you x2 the amount to park there. It is not posted anywhere but they will ask you for twice the money at the gate. Theres no rational explanation behind it (I called the office). Even the woman I spoke with had to put me on hold to speak with the guy located in the parking lot to double check because she didnt believe it herself. But inevitably aligned with him. I met my family there (who took another vehicle) and they already paid to park, so we will be split up for the rest of the day (on our last day of vacation/my wife's birthday).

After a stormy week we were looking for some sunny beach time. Unfortunately, the beach was "muck" and smelly from the storm. So this is more of a review for the gate person not letting people know as he takes your $8. I don't really care about the money but he should have let us knw what the conditions were.

It’s worth the long walk for this almost private beach. Park at the far end of the lot and follow the boardwalk to the path that leads you around the trees to the beach. Walk a little farther down the beach past the people, and you’ll feel all alone on this beautiful beach. Because of Covid, there are no rentals or concessions at the park, so we rented chairs from Beach Bum Equipment (they were the backpack type and super easy to carry with our small cooler).
