What a great experience. I coaxed my husband into visiting with me as he wasn't too interested in seeing the turtles. But, by the end of the tour, he was highly impressed and grateful for this facility's existence. The tour starts with a brief overview of the types of turtles along with the hospital's mission, followed by an extensive walk through the tank areas. The tour guide did an excellent job educating everyone and, at the end of the tour, we were able to feed the turtles. I highly recommend this experience.

If you've seen a turtle in the ocean before, this is not exciting. You start the tour in a low ceiling room. Our packed tour had around 40 people, listening for 30min with bad acoustics. Then we proceed to see some tanks with turtles in them on the property of a closed budge motel.
I've seen turtles in the ocean, I've seen baby turtles, etc. this experience was not in the least exciting.

The Turtle Hospital is doing critical work to rehab and protect turtles. I highly recommend this tour for the learning experience as well as contributing to their cause. You will also get to see and feed many turtles.

This was amazing, we actually got to see the team doing surgery on a large sea turtle! There's also a walk-through the "hospital ward" of the different ones they are rehabilitating. The tour guide was very knowledgeable on the individual turtles and what was being done for each.

We picked this stop as we were trying to break up the drive out to Key West. Glad we did! The staff are dedicated and enthusiastic, and we enjoyed hearing about the help turtles can get while they are there, when they can release them, and saw and fed the turtles that cannot be released. Highly recommend!

An amazing place. We learned a lot and were touched by the heartwarming stories - it´s sad and happy at the same time. Thanks to the fantastic team of volunteers, turtle caretakers and doctors and special thanks to Mary-Elisabeth for the educational and fun tour through the clinic. We couldn´t resist and adopted Bender. The adoption is an awesome idea. Thanks for the great visit and your awesome work.

We signed up for a tour of the Turtle Hospital in January 2023. Our guide was excellent, the turtles amazing. We have driven by the Turtle Hospital every time we are in the Keys and now we know exactly what is happening there. Worthy of a stop!

This was a top notch turtle rehab & learning facility. We took the Educational Tour and were very impressed by the available state-of-the-art medical services offered and trained staff to treat sick and/or injured turtles. Our tour guide was wonderful & very knowledgeable. The entire facility was very clean and orderly. Well worth the time and cost to take the tour and support this worthy program.

Had a great time meeting the individual turtles and getting to know their personalities. We didn't realize how infection and trapped air could be so harmful.

Great learning experience. It was very informative and we loved seeing the turtles and learning ways that we harm them and ways to help. Also loved that we saw some rescues, and a couple of days later were able to see videos on FB of them being released back into the ocean.

So how long does a tour last? Do we leave the Turtle Hospital then? Not encouraged to continue the visit?

The tour is about 90 minutes. You start with a video and presentation, then walk the ER treatment area. Then it's outside to the tanks to see recovering turtles and those in continuing care.

Hi! We want to stop at the Turtle hospital on our way to Big Pine key. We will be pulling a 28ft camper, is there a place to park it while we visit? Thank you!
Thank you for planning to visit the Turtle Hospital. We have limited parking at the hospital and there is not room for a 28 ft. camper. There is a bank next to us on the south side. I recommend you asking the manager, but they are usually accommodating and most of the time there is space in the bank parking lot parallel to the Turtle Hospital. I hope this is helpful. Safe travels!

Best to make a reservation. No deposit required. We arrived half hour before an 11:00 am tour. We were lucky. Only four spots were left.

I have MS and am in a wheelchair that is not motorized. Would it be difficult for my kids to push me on this tour?
Thank you for your interest in visiting the Turtle Hospital! Our facility has universal access to all areas on our educational programs. We hope to see you soon!
