- Bethany D3 contributionsStunning viewWe have driven over 7 mile bridge many times and that alone is an awesome experience but, this time we rode bikes out on the pedestrian bridge which is the original 7 mile bridge that has been refurbished. We rode bikes from our resort in marathon to the bridge and then on the bridge out to pigeon key which is about 2.5 miles one way (which is the end of the bridge from the north side). It’s a great set up with pedestrian walk way on each side of the bridge and bike lanes up the middle. Great view, nice breeze and endless ocean. There is a small parking lot just before the bridge entrance but it was pretty full. No fishing from this side but, if you are coming from the south side, part of the old bridge has been converted into a pedestrian fishing pier.Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten February 9, 2023

The 4.2 miles round trip is a beautiful walk but make sure you are prepared for the heat and have water, sun screen etc.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 5, 2023

Beautiful photos and historical site. Not recommended for kids or teens (hence 4 stars) as it is a historical site and little to do, but walk or ride the bridge

I knew there was a long bridge to cross to get to Key West and this was it. It really is 7 miles long.
In some parts, you do get to see some lovely views of the ocean but it is a little bit of an eye saw, maybe paint the sides blue?

This was a really cool experience walking over the bridge from Marathon. It gets very busy at sunset and parking is limited. The water is beautiful !

The journey through the Keys is just as incredible as being on the Keys. The view is breathtaking. The ocean, well, beyond majestic. Definitely worth it.

Three words; Fred The Tree! While traveling along the iconic US Route 1, I was so excited to see Fred. Everyone in the car was screaming and googling at him!

We visited the bridge while staying in Marathon. We actually ran to the bridge from out hotel. It is neat to look out over the water and walk down the bridge. It is worth a visit.

What is the best time to drive the bridge? sunrise, sunset, etc?

Deerfield Beach, FL363 contributions
All depends on your preference. Both sunrise & sunset are beautiful when mother nature cooperates. Sunny days are the best to see the colors of water and appreciate the views.

I am going to be in Miami with my two children next week and have one day unplanned. I have always wanted to drive to7 mile Bridge, is it feasible to drive there and back from Miami in one day?

Yes; it would be a long day of driving but a beautiful one! I thinks it’s about 2.5 hrs from Miami but tons of things to stop and see and it’s a gorgeous drive with the bright blue waters on either side of the highway

wondering if any of the old bridge is available for walking / fishing at this time? Been a couple years since last there & if I remember correctly there were people fishing near the old bridge & some out on the bridge....

The old bridge is under renovation at this time. I am not sure of when it will be open again.

I keep hearing about the abundance of sea critters one might see off the Seven Mile Bridge, but am wondering from where one may do so, i.e., is there a certain stopping point? hotel/motel? park? Or, do you see them while driving? Thank you!
If you know of any other wildlife viewing spots in the Keys, kindly share them as well!! Thx very much…

There are pull off areas on the bridge where people fish. You have to be on the look out because the traffic moves quickly.
Till when can tourisit go through this seven miles bridge by car ? Ive heard that we cannot go
through now because of ILMA's influence.
