Very poor park. No botanical about it. Bout a 1 mile circuit of basically walking in the woods. Trail not that very well kept. Part of the trail was washed out so you couldn’t complete the circuit. The only good thing was the volunteer working...More

This spot is still recovering from Irma. The trail is very sunny, in part due to tree loss, and the signs are not very clear. We enjoyed the walk but did not learn as much about the trees as I hoped.

Short walk with virtually nothing to see other than small informative signs that are of no benefit because you can't figure out which tree it is describing. The best part of this park is the bathroom.

Had a look, but did not see much. Walked a short way in the hot sun and left. A few marked specimens.

We stopped here, expecting botanical experiences. Let me lower your expectations. The most horticultural learning you will get here consists entirely of a few posts with plant and tree identification. The highlight of the hike was seeing a large green iguana. Other than that, there...More

A very strange, empty, and somewhat creepy “park” with crumbling asphalt road-trails that turn into swampy dirt paths through unfriendly-feeling tropical vegetation. Nothing to do really, except maybe for sitting down on the banks of small lake-like feature along one of the trails. I mean,...More

We went around noon on New Year's Eve 2018. There was a ranger there that pointed out the poisonwood (stay away, poison may stay in your blood and keep giving you rashes for three weeks, but if you stay on the marked paths you'll be...More

Made the mistake of choosing this park as a stop on our way back from Key West to Miami. After 15 minutes of walking we realized that this once upon a time must have been nice. It reminded me of a large backyard that lost...More

It is a good place to go if you are just looking for a trail to hike. We couldn't do the whole trail since a section of it was covered by water.

I never saw anything like this under name "Botanical Garden". Even with a free parking and just $2.5 fee you put in envelop and leave in a special box. Wild thickets with a series of posts. Absolute desolation and a sense of hopelessness.

Pets are welcome at Florida State Parks on a leash. Just make sure you stay on the trails and bring plenty of bug spray. State parks in the Florida Keys have been impacted by hurricane Irma, so if you're planning a visit, go... More

There is a one mile loop and a 2 mile loop. The full loop is sometimes partially under water. As far as level goes, well, this is the keys, so its flat. This park is taken care of by John Pennekamp State Park, so you have to... More
