About
As a part of the Key Lime Sailing Club, the American Sailing Academy is one of the few facilities in the world to make learn-to-sail dreams come true in a perfect, economical, vacation setting. The resort has a fleet of Catalina 22's available for guests to use as soon as they complete their classes and even larger boats for the advanced sailing courses. This is a unique learning experience. We will teach you to sail safely and with confidence. Our instructors have made sailing their profession, and are some of the best in the industry. You'll not only learn the art and science of sailing, but also experience sailing as a lifestyle! We pride ourselves on providing a stress free learning experience. After you complete your ASA-101 course, you'll be able to sail off on your own and explore the waters of Buttonwood Sound and Florida Bay. If you decide to stay at KLSC, you will have a boat at your disposal for the rest of your stay! There simply is no other place like this.

American Sailing Academy in Key Largo, FL offers traditional and hybrid learning courses. We took the ASA 103 hybrid learning class which we found to be best value and use of time for our learning experiences. We were provided a link to online videos before arriving in Key Largo for the full two days of sailing instruction onboard. The class and docks for the boat is conveniently on the Key Lime Sailing Club and Cottages property. We stayed at the property and walked next door to the class room and about 100 yards to the dock.
Our onsite instructor, Captain Laurel Seaborn, was professional, knowledgable, experienced, enthusiastic, thorough and encouraging. I cannot say enough great things about this experience and hope to return for our next class.

We came to the American Sailing Academy to get our ASA 103. We also wanted a weekend vacation in the Keys with the family. Very pleased to find out that the American Sailing Academy was attached to the Key Lime Sailing Club & Cottages! We loved our hybrid class; classroom portion was online with two full days on their Catalina 35. It was so nice to walk out of our cottage and within a few paces & walk right into class!! Our instructor, Capt. Laurel, was superb!! We are looking forward to obtaining our ASA 104 through American Sailing Academy next year!!

As a crew member to the Key Lime Sailing Club I got to learn a lot about boats, fixing them, sailing them, and even teaching them to guest (KLSC offers introduction to sailing programs, from one hour to 3 days) and all the while enjoying taking care of the guest and their boats, learning my way through ASA103, ASA104 and soon to go up to ASA105-106 and ASA114 (Catamaran).
