Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Adventure in Key Largo

As a life long keys resident It is my pleasure to show you the mangrove tunnels that we enjoyed as kids off Key Largo. Enjoy the beauty of the Florida Keys from the water while we paddle along the crystal clear waters of the Florida Keys. See birds, wildlife, fish, and learn about the area as well.

We had an hour to kill between jet skiing and dinner and decided to pop in to check out the place. I’m so glad that we did, we had the best time!!! We sat down for a mead tasting & the young man at the bar was so informative, we ended up a little buzzed & in love with keys mead! We liked it so much we took a few bottles home with us! My favorite was definately the apple pie flavored, served warm (yum)! We’ll be back for sure!

The only time I came across mead was in Boulder, CO so it was a must try when I saw this in the things to do section. Mead is not wine, but more of a sipping liquor made from honey—and quite tasty! The location is moving a few doors down and it was quick for the owner to pop over for a tasting. There were approx. 13 different meads across the spectrum of dry to sweet. I definitely recommend doing the full tasting experience ($8 per person) bc there were several that wouldn’t have been on my list and was quite surprised. The history on mead and his backstory was interesting and he did a great job at taking interest in us, our experience and preferences. The variety of flavors were much broader than I had seen before. We opted to have some shipped home, but he does have protective bottle covers if one would prefer to take home in their luggage. My personal favorites are Cranberry, Jamaican Cherry, Apple Pie Spice, Orange and a new, yet to be tried Sweet Lychee. I will be a return customer from ordering online. This may not stand out as must do, but I assure you it will be a highlight of your trip!

We stopped in on our way back from Islamorada. Jeff was more than accommodating. We weren't familiar with Mead and he not only gave us the history, but the process and flavors. It was a great way to end our Keys trip.

Fun afternoon outing. Mead tasting was fun and we happened to have the opportunity to meet the Bee Keeper. Learned a few things, enjoyed the tasting and hanging out. Purchased some to bring home. Definitely recommend a visit. #supportsmallbusiness
