The park is really nice, a couple beaches and trails to walk. The mangrove trail was closed when we visited which was a bit disappointing. We didn't end up snorkeling or kayaking because we stopped as we were traveling to Key West but I wish...More
If you're going to go swimming bring water shoes. There are tons of rocks and it's so painful on your feet. We had no idea! Bring an umbrella and a stand for it! It's a beautiful park and we did end up seeing some corral...More
Our family of four just went on a scuba trip out of John Pennekamp. From the moment we walked into the diving office Betsy was very helpful. My oldest teen son and my husband were going on a scuba dive and she make sure to...More
Bring your beach stuff or your snorkel stuff with you. Rentals available. Glass bottom boat ride was disappointing. Coral is earth tones can't predict you will 1/10+ to see turtle or shark. Enjoy the beaches. Food truck available since snack area destroyed Irma.
Taking the glass bottom boat tour was fabulous! We had a great time! The staff who directed the guests and described the reef were very knowledgeable and great in their description of what we were seeing beneath the waters. It was captivating to watch the...More
Reasonably priced for a family of 4. Not too crowded, and offered several boat tours. The walking trail was closed due to construction. All in all nice park to visit. Even saw a little big surprise while walking. 😊
The park is well kept and very clean but my family complained that the beach area water had a funny smell. I did not notice but I did not wade there. Gift shop was surprisingly fairly priced. The snorkeling tour we chose was from the...More
The glass bottom boat staf werevery knowledgeable about the reef and life there. The boat ride was also very nice. While waiting for the boat we went wading in the water at the beach. Just wish we had more time to enjoy the area
Capt. Mikey & Brian were amazing! Friendly, helpful & even held a beginner snorkel class for those on the trip that felt they’d benefit from it. Saw beautiful sea life, Eagle Ray, Baricudda, Black tip sharks, angel fish, blue & rainbow parrot fish were among...More

Usually the 4.5 hour snorkeling tour is the trip out to the reefs, snorkeling, and back. It is a nice sightseeing tour of mangroves and wildlife on the drive out and back. It is a nice pace, but no actual sightseeing beyond the trip out and back. I would suggest a bayside sightseeing/sunset tour if you want more sightseeing than snorkeling. Sunset tours from Key Largo to Lower Matecumbe are plentiful and fun.
