Great area to just hang out and watch the waves. I did several runs on the paths in this area. All are well marked and pretty smooth.

Crandon Beach is a wonderful place for individuals, couples, families and groups. I’ve been there several times in 2023, from New Year’s Day to Easter to Memorial Day. First, it’s easy to get there as it’s 15 minutes from I-95. There’s plenty of inexpensive parking (use an App to pay). The walk from car to beach is a scenic and short 5-7 minutes, tops. The sand is clean, smooth and Palm trees offer some shade if you need it. I found the water clear on some trips, but had seaweed on others. That’s just nature. You can rent chairs and or umbrellas (expensive in my opinion, over $10 for each), so buy a cheap beach chair and an umbrella on FB marketplace if you plan on going more than a day. There are outdoor showers and indoor bathrooms spread out along various beaches. There are rental barbeques (think they must be reserved), small restuarants and a kayak-paddleboard rental shop, too. I think I paid $20 for the paddleboard for an hour. An hour was enough. Each day, the water was calm with fish jumping and pelicans diving. On the north end, a sandbar appears at low tide which makes for a cool walking experience. I brought my cooler and enjoyed food and drink. Despite all the different groups, I never observed obnoxious behavior or a trash strewn beach. Lifeguard stations, large raised enclosures, are located on each beach. Honestly, it’s my go-to, now. For a great beach day that won’t empty your wallet, I love this place! Well done, Florida! Well done!

The beach was very windy, with loads of plastic and rubbish in the sand. Plus a strong smell. We didn’t hang around. The beach at Bill Baggs was much better.

We visited on MLK day and then again that Tuesday, and neither time was crowded at all. Lovely beach, easy parking, and a nice food stand that had plenty of toys for our toddler. Highly recommend!

Avoid this place!!!!
We are visiting Miami for a week and decide to come today, Monday Aug 22nd (10am) to this beach, because is family friendly. Let me start telling you about the nasty rotten seaweed smell and the water treatment plant near the beach. Is totally disgusting, The worst beach I’ve ever been. You have to pay for parking in this nightmare. We drove 30min to come here, walked around for 10 more min and left. A day by the hotel pool is 110% better than staying in this pool.

Tip:
There are enough palm trees to just sit down under their shadow if you want to stay there.

This beach was an excellent surprise. Parking was plentiful mid day, mid week, in March. There were many good looking spots to set up in all directions. The tall palms were beautiful and the water and soft waves were wonderful. Quite tropical and relaxing.

We visited the north beach side of Crandon. The only positive thing I can say is of the picnic areas. Aside from that the beach is very dirty. Full of seaweed. Water is murky and dirty. (looks like brown water).

Miami Dade County needs to do something to clean the abundance of seaweed. This cannot be good for the sea life or environment. It is a shame this stretch of beach has deteriorated due to the excessive rotting of seaweed.

I remember coming to this beach as a young child and it was always a clean, and safe, beach to swim in.
This will be the last time I visit this beach. What a shame.

We visited the beach the day before the 4th of July late in the afternoon. It was packed with people and it was hard to find a parking spot. Water was deep blue/green color and luke warm, white soft sand, making it fantastic for the kids to hang out in the water. Seaweeds were present but you could find spots without it as well. Warm breeze made it perfect to fly a kite. The park offers fresh water shower to wash off the sand after using the beach.

Nice uncrowded beach with soft white sand. We didn't notice the parking meter signs and got a $46 parking ticket plus $42 to rent two lounge chairs for a couple of hours. It was an expensive beach trip!
