Accredited by the American Association of Museums and listed on the national Register of Historic Places, this 35-acre historic estate on Fort Lauderdale Beach is an extraordinary blend of art, history and nature. The whimsically-designed house was built in 1920 and was home to artists Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett. Bonnet House was the romantic, whimsical winter getaway of wealthy Chicago-born artist Frederic Clay Bartlett and his wife, Evelyn Fortune Bartlett, an artist in her own right. But unlike lavish show-palaces of the era, Bonnet House was a very personal, intimate creation intended just for family and close friends. It's been perfectly preserved in its 1930's and 40's period of significance, full of delightful surprises.

Been meaning to visit here for quite a while and finally did. Beautiful house and grounds well worth the $20 fee. Also the option to do the driven guide around the ground for $4 is a bargain.

David and his staff just hosted a wedding for us and they did a wonderful job. Professional as to every detail. Not much more to say. One of the handful of vendors that really performed as expected. Thank you!

We stumbled across this house while visiting Fort Lauderdale for our cruise. I loved everything about this house and the tour was excellent. Don't miss it!

We took the water taxi to stop 7 and walked over the bridge, then followed signs for Bonnet House - maybe 1/4 mile from the taxi. We took a tour of the house (20dollars each) which was wonderfully cool. The story of the artists was...More

Imagine if you will an oasis tucked away between the high rise buildings surrounding it and you can begin to understand just how attractive the Bonett House is. Untouched and unspoilt since being built (in the late1920's) this is a magical piece of Florida coat...More

Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable and the whole story of the Bartlett’s and the Birch’s was fascinating. The gardens are lovely and we saw squirrels, turtles, monkeys and lizards in them and the house itself is filled with amazing artworks and quirky pieces as...More

We enjoyed our tour of this unusual property, our guide was informative and keen to impart his knowledge of the house with great enthusiasm. It is a miracle that the property still exists in such a built up location.

We just found this by coincidence. We never went in to the house. We walked around in the very pleasant garden. Lots of things to discover! Really recommend a detour here.
