Not a must. En route to Jebel Shams is the old village of Misfat Al Abriyyin featuring meandering alleys amid crumbling structures.

This is a must see near Nizwa. The place have a lot of ancient houses still standing. The architectural excellence of olden times construction can be seen here. The place needs a bit of maintenance though.

This a wonderful little adandonded village in Al Hamra. Enjoy unique building technique of dry mud and palm branches. It's built on a rock which is already fascinating. Take a stroll through the dates plantation and falaj. It's a very interesting spot.

It is a very nice village on the mountains. When you reach the old village you have to park (that some times is a difficult task) and pass through the village to go down to the very beatifull valley.
