We visited here and it was different. The views are amazing. Very interesting to look around. Unfortunately there wasn’t anything open only the toilets. Possibly due to time of year. Nevertheless we enjoyed our visit.

The castle provided great views and castle ruins in good shape for their age. The structure had a fascinating history of Mary Shelly's classic novel!

If traveling between Heidelberg & Frankfurt it's a great idea to make this pit stop. (Plus there are things to see & do in Darmstadt.) It is usually free, but there was a Medieval group charging 3 Euros to get in. Great view of the...More

From the castle you can see the surrounding areas. It is amazing. It is well preserved and a great place to visit. I could only imagine this place at Halloween.

Arrived Frankfurt on Monday morning and drove to Darmstadt to see the castle on our way to Heidelberg. Beautiful scenery approaching the castle and parking was easy. Walk up can be challenging for mobility challenged folks, but well paved. Grounds are small, nicely kept, but...More

We decided last minute to take a trip to do Halloween at Burg Frankenstein. It is well worth the drive and money. The busses run constantly from the P&R to the castle. The one thing you have to get used to here....the actor can touch...More

We attended the annual Halloween Festival at the castle on Children's Day, held on Sundays. Children's Day is intentionally less scary (the staff makes an effort to show the kids dressing up and being scared can be fun) and we were not disappointed. Our group...More

You will most definitely need a reservation at the restaurant and I don't believe it will be closed during the daylight hours. We were able to go in before it officially opened and walked around before others started coming... More

You should be able to get a taxi to take you up but it is a long drive so it may be costly. I would rent a car. Enjoy!

Not sure but nearly everyone who works there that we met spoke English so I am sure if you request it they can make it happen. I did not see anything that have any other details on that issue. Great place to have one and it... More
