Okay, the George Read who signed the Declaration of Independence was the son of the builder of this particular house. This is a wonderful house and piece of Delaware history. Very friendly staff and a very knowledgeable guide.

Lynn, the tour guide, was very informative and professional. The house is very interesting where the son of the founding father lived and was passed down to different owners. Try to visit while in New Castle.

Knowledgable guides and beautiful preservation of american history. George Reed and the Lairds resided here. My favorite room is the dinning room.

This house had several owners, but its primary interpretation centers on George Read; signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The tour takes about 45 minutes and is very informative about both the house and it’s owners. When visiting old New Castle...More

Pleasant home of a minor piece of early American history. Gardens in need of some TLC - paths ragged, not much blooming. Not ADA. Guide was pleasant but couldn't address some questions. Worth an hour for dedicated American history buffs.

I do not know. We toured the Reed House as part of the Brandywine History tour package. The Reed House was teh only New Castle property included.
