About
The Arctic Fox Centre in Sudavik is the home of Arctic fox research in Iceland with year round projects constantly collecting and furthering knowledge on this inspiring creature and passing this on to our visitors through our unique exhibition which is the worlds only dedicated solely to the Arctic fox. Our outdoor fox enclosure hoouses rescued orphaned pups giving our visitors the chance to "meet" live Arctic foxes while the on site cafe serves freshly made, home baked cakes and pastries as well as more substantial meals of vegetable soups and plokkfiskur fish stew. We look forward to seeing you!

Small museum
May 2019 • Couples
Small museum, you won’t need an hour to see it all. What I loved is that you’re allowed to touch the stuffed foxes inside!!! I’ve never seen a museum that lets you so that. It just asks that you be careful.

The star of this museum though, are it’s two live arctic foxes. Mori and Ingi. :-) they’re why we wanted to come. Oh they’re so cute. They have a big outdoor play area. I want to say it was Mori that came right up to the fence and was sniffing our hands.

Did the tour and took pictures of 2 Foxes in captivity. The centre does a really great job and it is well worth a visit.

Informative and cute fox

Really cold outside, but we were able to see the adult and young fox. Great film inside as well. You can even touch the displays to see how soft they are.

Good But Not Our Thing
Jul 2019
The folks who put this together did a good job. There were two or three live foxes in a pinned area but there were patches of tall grass and I could not see them. My wife stayed longed and saw one as he stood up and moved. The center had lots of pictures and some stuffed foxes.
Just not something of interest to me. It was on the tour so we went in and looked.

Only one Fox
Jul 2019 • Couples
Very interesting village and also the Museum here was good.
It’s a shame there was only one Fox and although was the star attraction the enclosure was ok but could have been better .

Please No Fox alive in a small park!!!
Jul 2019
Very interesting museum.
The only reserve is about the Fox living outside in a very small park.
During the whole visit we realize that he needs a very big territory and it seems really unnatural for him to be in such a small space

Great stop on our adventure but don't go out of your way to visit
Jun 2019 • Couples
The arctic fox center was a great stop for us on our westfjords adventure. We learned so much about the types of arctic foxes in Iceland and all of the history. They even have one lone arctic fox in the back behind the center. The little guy was very cute and active the day we visited.
I gave the center a 4 because I wouldn't come all the way to Sudavik just to visit the center, but a great stop if you are already traveling in the area. Also, they have huge tour buses that stop here frequently so it could get crowded for such a small and quaint place.

A compact enthusiastic centre focusing on this fascinating animal
Jun 2019 • Couples
Not knowing what to expect from this visit we were a little surprised that a place this small would cater for coaches. However, the enthusiastic staff did very well to explain the ecology of this iconic small predator which has managed to evolve quickly with climate change and other pressures such as the popularity of its fur. A rather sad (Im sure he was quite content!) single live individual is in the enclosure outside but apparently they are solitary animals so best not to anthropomorphise! The scenery further up the valley is truly astounding and the visit to the small wooden church nearby to hear the lovely voice of a local girl made for a great tour in this more remote area.

It was okay

If you're into wildlife or history then definitely come here. Personally found it a bit boring but centres/museums arent really my thing. My mum liked it though and she likes these things. Dont go in expecting it to be big and grand as it is small but with good detail.
