As many here have said, this naturalistic German cemetery is well worth the 20-minute walk from the formal American cemetery. I found it sad yet somehow more peaceful than its US counterpart, with less pomp and circumstance and almost no other visitors. The effort here...More

After a repeated visit at American Military Cemetery I decided to visit also the German one located at the outskirt of town called Sandweiler. In the end it became the most impressive part of my trip to Luxembourg. More than ten thousand young men, many...More

A quiet place of rest for so many young men who perished in the war. No matter what side , these were young men who perished in a horrible conflict. The setting is calm and peaceful.

After a visit at the American military cemetery it is highly recommended to drive short distance to the German military cemetery just so see the difference. There is no doubt about who got the short end of the stick in the battle. This place has...More

This was a completely different experience to the American Cemetery. Dark, forboding, and profoundly sad. Too many headstones with no names. No one signed the guestbook (my wife and I did). How many mothers' sons are here, and they are not known, remembered, or visited?

This cemetery is only 1.5 miles away from the American Cemetery, so don't pass this up. It's painful, yet humbling to give respect to so many young men, that didn't know what they were doing. They were just listening to the propaganda and gave their...More

Dark and quiet with four soldiers per headstone. These young men also died for their country but they seem mostly forgotten now. When we visited, there was no one there but my wife, myself, and the graves....haunting and sobering.

After visiting the American memorial we walked to this German military cemetery. We are really glad we did, it was such a contrast to where we had just been. It was hard on the emotions and did prompt discussion. I would highly recommend anyone to...More

We had just visited the American Military Cemetery, and were there until 5pm when the gates closed. We had no idea if this cemetery was open but we had heard we should try and see it. It was a little tricky to find, but not...More
