A place well worth a visit. We came there as a group of four and got our tickets for a guided tour in German. As there were no other tourists, and our knowledge of German ranged between satisfactory and nonexistent, our guide offered us a tour in English. She said this was her first time guiding in English - but it was really impossible to tell, as she was so good at it. Overall, the tour was diverse and engaging. The highlight of the tour was the gallery of abbots' portraits - many of them were painted by the same person and using the same model, which was a bit eerie, but certainly memorable.…

We arrived in time for the 10:30 AM tour time. There were a total of six people in our group. The other folks were German-speaking and since my wife and I speak German, there was no problem. The tour took about 2 hours. There are many steps so be prepared to climb and descend different levels. We could tell that our guide really enjoyed her work. The Cistercians came to Rein about 900 years ago. One room at beginning set a high standard in the way the ceiling was painted--a clue--your eyes can be fooled. I would be pleased to return.…

The tour is long. If you are lucky you will get a guide who speaks English. I didn't, but it was still very interesting. Make sure you know what bus to get on at the train station. I was not sure and the bus driver did not speak English. But it was the right but, as directed by the tourist info people in the train station.…

A beautiful place made more special by a lengthy yet informative tour by Ms. Kern. Excellent learnings of historical knowledge of the abbey brought to life by many artifacts and art work.
