We went here to hike. Our adventure was made complete by watching a large snake playing on logs in the water. The birds were numerous here and made for some great photos.

I've been going here since I was a kid, and though sometimes the water seems murky, it's a great picnic spot. The camping is also great.

I grew up in Griswold and my mom is still there, so when we went looking for a place to camp near Mom, this was one of several options. The others are commercial campgrounds, but we enjoy boondocking, so Hopeville was our choice. After reading...More

We camped over fourth of July weekend and had a really good time. Hopeville has two beaches and you can hike, fish, swim, boat, ride bikes or just relax. The campground quiets down nicely at night. Well worth a stay.

Last year or was free entry except on the weekends. State residents get discounts. Great place for picnic with small beach area nearby. No lifeguard. Lots of walking areas and gorgeous in the fall.

No matter what time of year I go to the beach, it is always quiet, peaceful and serene. I have not used the camping or boating facilities yet. It's clean and well kept. No lifeguard or snack bar but there ARE traditional lavatories.

It can only be state cuts to funding for state parks that could account for the condition of this place. (Concession stand is shuttered.) A real shame!!! If you venture here, go straight to the beach area. The folks, who enjoy this place really seem...More

Great for early morning dog walking but not much of a beach to speak of. Very loud campers And overflowing trash containers with people playing loud annoying music with disregard for all others. And when you say something your the idiot in their eyes.

A decent state park with clean and small campsite, yet you’ll have your privacy. That's a good thing because you won't feel overwhelmed by a lot of people with cars, trucks or trailers. There’re 2 swimming areas, the further one is big and nice, with...More

This was a fairly local, long weekend camping trip for me, and was so lovely! The park is accessible but feels totally off the beaten path (a big plus!). We stayed in the campground and everything was easy and nice. Pretty small, family-friendly campground, but...More
