As visitor centers go, this one was really small and didn't have too much to offer. There were the standard pamphlets for things to do. A few books. Some maps. There is no orientation film or museum. The staff was indifferent.

The staff that man the visitors' center are very knowledgeable and have a lot of information on both the San Juan Forest and BLM lands to the north. The jeep and ATV trails are well doumented with maps, brochures, and books.

The visitor center is well placed as you enter town from the South. It has lots of information about what's going on in town, with plenty of maps and brochures. It is in an attractive building with history plaques in front. Well done.
