The staff that man the visitors' center are very knowledgeable and have a lot of information on both the San Juan Forest and BLM lands to the north. The jeep and ATV trails are well doumented with maps, brochures, and books.

The visitor center is well placed as you enter town from the South. It has lots of information about what's going on in town, with plenty of maps and brochures. It is in an attractive building with history plaques in front. Well done.

Silverton is a must stop for anyone traveling. It is right out of the 19th century. Some of the roads are still not paved. There are no stop signs or traffic lights. The Main Street looks like a western town. Each building is painted a...More

At first glance you wouldn't think Silverton would have a visitor's center, but they do. On the other hand, when you think about it, why shouldn't they?
