Take the drive from Corkscrew Gulch to Animas Forks in a Jeep rental. Beautiful views! Animas Forks has been on my list of places to see for many years. I am glad I finally got to see it!

The drive from Silverton gets mixed reviews. We did it in a Nissan Pathfinder, and the clearance was fine. It gets a little dicey in some spots, but it was completely manageable, helped by being a very gradual incline on the way up. The houses...More

We were hesitant to drive to Animas Forks in a sedan, but when our rental vehicle got upgraded to a small 4-wheel-drive we decided to go for it. The first 2/3 was great - first good paved then well-graded and wide unpaved. The final 1/3...More

The best of all ghost towns. Many structures standing and restored. But the best part may be the drive here and the scenery all around. A must see if you are in the area.

Little bit of a rough ride, but this is truly a beautiful settlement. We loved it and went back three times.

This was one of my stops on a jeeping trip. Nice place to stop and there are pit toilets there. Quite a few houses including the iconic Duncan House and you can go in each one. Pretty cool. There is also an old jail there....More

How cool was this, you can walk inside these old homes. My kiddos were amazed and had to go into every single home/building. We had a blast!

We did a lot of jeeping that day. This was a perfect spot to rest and have lunch. It was gorgeous and the mining town was cool to see.
