It was absolutely worth the drive up to this ghost town. We really enjoyed walking around to each building. It’s amazing to know it’s been there so long and we were able to enter buildings that miners lived in years ago.

We arrived by Jeep over Hurricane Pass so took the long bumpy way to arrive there. Interesting Ghost town, and you can walk into the buildings. Kids seemed to enjoy it a lot! You can drive from Silverton on decent gravel road as well.

The path to Animas Forks was so pretty. The history here is amazing! Loved all the history and photo ops! Would go back in a heartbeat!

We did a 4X4 jeep your and stopped here along the way. It was very nice to see how the locals are trying to preserve this site. There are many buildings and remnants of the mining operation. It is worth the drive.

We have been to Animas Forks several times. This year, we were there on New Years Day, and were the only ones there.

Interesting mining town. You can walk thru and explore the homes the people lived in. You can see where they mined.

I agree with Wayne C. Animas Forks is a historical sight, a cluster of mining camp ruins, a place to park your 4-wheel drive vehicle and use the primitive restroom facilities. Your closest airports are Montrose, Durango... More
