The extensive collection in this Museum is wonderful. The room with the medical / dental items was great fun. The outdoor collection of farm equipment included many items we had never seen.

We were a group of three adults (seniors) and three grandchildren (ages 7 - 12). My husband’s and my out of state brother was with us and we decided to visit the museum as a family activity. None of us had ever been here before. What a great surprise!! We were warmly and personably greeted by the museum director Sallie and given a quick overview of how the museum was laid out. Then we were free to wander from room to room at our own pace as well as explore the outdoor exhibits of larger artifacts and machinery. Sallie told us that 90% of the display items were from the Montrose area. The displays were well organized thematically and well labeled. The subject matter included literally something for everyone and we all learned some good local history! This was a quality activity and we look forward to returning!

We finally caught this Museum open, it opens just a few days a week, I would check before going unless you are just cruising around. It might take an hour to look around. A pioneer cabin is set up for the time period and was very interesting.....so glad we have advanced in-home living!

I enjoyed the stories the volunteers knew about the area. The farm equipment and stage coach were nice. I liked the clothing and fashions from the past.

Our visit here was late on a summer afternoon. The lady who was in charge greeted us warmly and was ready to answer any questions. The museum had an abundance of objects inside and out. We particularly enjoyed the caboose we could enter. Don’t miss this museum. It is different from the usual single objects with lots of words. More objects than words

A good collection of local history, fairly well organized. Spend as much or as little time here and learn a lot of history for a very nominal fee, and if you are able to attend any of the walking tours of Montrose, they are fabulous.

Unique experience! It's sort of a huge jumble of artifacts, from arrowheads to old medical equipment to rusted threshing machines to vintage musical instruments, but taken all together, it presents a fascinating patchwork of Montrose history. We loved the little one room red cabin in the yard, fitted out as it might have been when a couple raised a family of five children there. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The only down side was the heat. The AC couldn't keep up. We visited in the afternoon and the sun was blazing in the yard where the railroad car, cabin and other outdoor exhibits are located. We had to cut our visit short because of the sun and heat, but we visited during a heat wave and mild weather visitors would not have that problem.

Fascinating local museum, featuring lots of equipment from the late 19th century -- agricultural, mining, industrial, and more. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. You leave with a much enhanced appreciation for the grit, determination, and courage those remarkable pioneers had, and needed, every day. The opportunities, hardships, and perils they faced on a daily basis give one pause as to what we all might benefit from today.
