Then you walk west across parking lot to view Rocky Mountains looking west . Nice gift/souvenir shop with food/drinks & restrooms.Visited February 2023Written February 9, 2023
- CB6699O'Fallon, Illinois132 contributionsBeauty ViewsThis is a great spot to have views to the east towards Denver and westward towards the other parts of the Rockies range. The drive up from Golden is pretty, curvy and a little steep. However we found that you can also get to the top from Ted Rocks and is a much shorter less curvy drive. Also Buffalo Bill’s grave site is at the top along with a cute little gift shop and restaurant.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 7, 2023
- hj99Cincinnati, Ohio217 contributionsVery scenic! We enjoyed a very scenic drive up to the mountain and once we got to the top! Luckily, we arrived at Buffalo Bill's grave when someone was doing a free talk about the history behind his final resting place. It was very informative! We also visited the museum next door and there were many artifacts and a lot of information present. There is a small restaurant on the premises where we got drinks and there is a gift shop.Visited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 17, 2023

It took a long time driving up there, but the views were great! It was very slushy getting the edge, so we looked at the description signs instead. It's quite high in elevation - with lots of twists and turns. The Buffalo Bill Museum looked closed - unfortunately. I'd suggest stopping your vehicle at one of the "turn-outs" - the vistas were beautiful.

Brought visitors here many times. Great mountain view of the continental divide, Buffalo Bills gravesite, museum(excellent and only a few dollars) and Buffalo Bill store trading post. Can be windy at times…paragliders are fun to watch. Lots of bicyclers climbing and descending, they love love love it. There’s a Colorado nature center that is great too.

This site, at an elevation of over 7,300 feet, affords sumptuous views in almost every direction. Understandably utilized as a lookout by the Utes, it is also renowned as the gravesite of Buffalo Bill Cody, who had seen a lot of the world and wisely settled on this singular site as his permanent resting place. There are a number of user-friendly trails nearby. With the Denver skyline in one direction and the Rockies and its foothills in others, it would hard to choose a wrong time of day to visit, but sunrise is especially recommended, as its animating rays can effect electrifying change on the land and tree-scape.

The views from the mountain are beautiful. The best viewpoint is from up at the top of the Buffalo Bill Museum.

Great view. Easy access. Good Bill Hickock museum. Wish they still had the trolley ride to the top instead of a drive. But the grew is outstanding

Great stop for a short hike. We parked at the nature center to kill some time before the buffalo bill museum opened. Nice lookout point across the street to take pictures, and a short loop trail behind the nature center. Bathrooms weren’t open yet, so maybe stop before you go if you plan on getting here early.

Can you please help me with the location/driving directions? I'm interested in parking my car and taking a short, scenic walk--may 30 minutes or so. Where would I park? If the best thing to do is drive instead of walk, where exactly do tell my GPS to take me?

Use Google maps and type in Buffalo Bill memorial and museum. It will take you right to the top of the mountain!
How much time should I allow total to drive up, observe, and drive down the mountain?

Hi, we are going to Denver in the upcoming summer. We are fascinated with the photo of the Denver skyline with the mountains in the background. Almost looking into Denver. Where was that taken? And can that photo be taken with a regular camera? Thank you.

I took the pic from near the top of Lookout mountain in Golden CO. Just a short drive outside of Denver. I took the pic with my IPhone 6.
Can you go here at night for the views?

The road to Lookout Mountain is open 24/7 just like any other road in the city. It is not a park. There is no fee. It is just a pull off like an observation point. The road is steep and curvy but they do keep it maintained. I am not clear what store the other writer is referring to. I am not aware of any "Lookout Mountain" store. There is a museum and a park and a few other things up at the top...Buffalo Bills grave, etc. Those operate using normal business hours - check their website before going to make sure they are open.
Does it cost money to go up there?

The ride up the mountain starting at 19th St in Golden is free. Visit Buffalo Bill's grave (great views) when you reach the top on the right.
