I’ve lived in CO for 50 years and my first trip up here was mostly on my father’s shoulders in 1964. Back then, the road was a rutted 4WD affair and the mud of the Bierstadt willows was already legendary and awful. Much has changed...More

This hike is far more maintained than others we have done. It is a great option for your 1st 14er, but don't take it lightly. You are still doing a long hike, reaching over 14,000 feet. You need to bring lots of water, and bring...More

Absolutely gorgeous! This was our first 14er and while there were times where it got exhausting, it was definitely doable. Just make sure you're taking breaks whenever you need to and not pushing yourself too hard if you're not used to the altitude. The trail...More

So you've decided to climb a 14er! Good for you BUT...you need to be prepared and plan carefully. Even Bierstadt- one of the 'easier' 14ers- is no joke and should be taken seriously. Lots of advice and tips follow... Overview-- The trail covers 7-8 miles...More

We had been meaning to summit a 14er for years and finally got around to it with Mt. Bierstadt. Long, relatively strenuous hike up toward the summit. Amazing views that just keep getting bigger and better along the way. The final scramble up to the...More

After both knees replaced I had a goal to climb a 14er. I chose Mt. Bierstadt since it was close to Denver. Even though it is considered an easier 14er, there are no easy 14ers. I made it to the top in 3.25 hours without...More

My husband and I decided it was time for me to hike my first 14er & naturally were drawn to Mt Bierstadt. It's definitely a work out, but not as difficult as expected. We started at 6am & finished around 11am. If you're interested in...More

Bierstadt has the reputation as one of the easiest 14,000 foot summits. But in my opinion (as a somewhat out of shape 48 year old who does a lot hiking and long-distance walking) it is not easy- in fact it's really hard. Bierstadt is located...More

This was indeed my first 14er and despite it being a bit chilly out with just a little dusting of snow on the ground, it was very doable. About me: I'm not a hiker but am an athlete. I did this hike after two days...More

This site has a series of crisscrossing trails that are fun for beginners and for people who may not really be hikers but do want to take a nice walk to see the beauty on the mountain. Trails were pretty well-maintained, we did come across...More

It really depends on how fast and how far you want to hike. If you are going during January, you will want to give yourself more time and some snow shoes 😬 Have fun!
