For the modern family that prefers substance with a unique, laid-back style, Northstar California Resort combines California cool with high-end luxury, on-mountain exhilaration with a sophisticated alpine village atmosphere. Halfway between one of North America's coolest mountain towns and one of the world's most beautiful alpine lakes, Northstar is a destination on the rise, having poured nearly a billion dollars into creating Lake Tahoe's premier luxury snowsports experience. Upscale shops, refined dining and Lake Tahoe's only five-star slopeside lodging is married to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and enough variety to challenge every level of skier (and world-class terrain parks to keep the kids busy). Those who come to Northstar know what they're looking for. Sometimes it's adventure, sometimes it's to learn, sometimes it's to relax in a welcoming place with family and friends. No matter what that experience is, they'll find it to be exactly the way it should be.

The Northstar Ski Resort is LARGE and the base Village area is sprawling. Consequently, it becomes necessary to walk a lot between the parking areas (even if you take one of the shuttles) and the base lift area. I found the skiing experience here to...More

Of all the ski resorts I have visited across 8 states and 2 countries, Northstar is my favorite. The Village has many shops and restaurants. There is ample parking close to the resort. And the mountain is well laid out and maintained. The resort is...More

Granted it was end-of-the-season, but this is a great mountain for families. Gentle slopes and easy to round up. Shuttles from the parking lot made it easy to access. Lots of steps, however, to get to the gondola. Always thinking about wee ones in equipment...More

Enjoyed a nice guided tour during the last week of operation for the season. Still plenty of snow, and sunshine made for a beautiful day.Mostly intermediate cruisers and lots of families.

Northstar snow is awesome! There routes are great from beginners to advance people. I went during spring break in 2018, very little people, you can keep going and not worry about hitting other people. The little village is cute but things are on the expensive...More

The blue runs here are relatively short and the black runs were very steep and icy the day we went. The amenities in the village are great for families - lots of stores, ice skating or rollerskating, fire pits, crepe and snack places, good restaurants.

Had a great time skiing at Northstar! Lots to ski in the intermediate/advanced levels. The mountain was groomed beautifully and the base was designed well. There's a lot of walking to get to the lift to the ski area, so be prepared! Wear your street...More

Love North* but really wish they would up their game with valet services. The only place to get valet is the Ritz but the ski valet is $500. Terrain is awesome and some of the longest groomers you will find. And after a good morning...More

No cheap, it’s expensive. Village is mediocre but with the right day. It rocks! Family friendly and very crowded on peak winter weeks

There are a lot of options. Weather will be a consideration if you are traveling by car, Truckee is close. Try TripAdvisor for the area. There are many restaurants at varying price ranges. See you there
