- kay-cee-1138Houston, Texas443 contributionsNice park in the center of townWe decided on the spur of the moment to visit the town of Sonoma, and we found the plaza to be a good place to start. It is the centrally-located green park (though it seems like people also use the term to refer to the many businesses which surround the park). Speaking just of the park, many people were strolling around it the Friday (11/25) we visited. It is pleasant and tree-lined; in fact, at this time the leaves of the ginko trees were already starting to turn to a brilliant yellow. The regional visitors bureau is located there on the east side of the park. We found the staff at the tourist office to be engaging and helpful. And there are public restrooms on the back (west side) of the building.Visited November 2022Written December 13, 2022
- vikka m25 contributionsCozy downtownThis place is a heart of Sonoma wine county and full of shops, tasting rooms, restaurants and historic landmarks. Food and wine is outstanding and it is hard to pick the best restaurant as they all offer the most delicious food. Locals judge the business by the reputation now, and that brings the competition to the absolute different level - customer service is incredible pretty much everywhere. Exploring the plaza is an absolute joy - it is small enough to spent a whole day and eventful enough to stay for a week or more, as you can explore the numerous famous wineries and landmarks of the Sonoma and Napa counties, coming back to the cutest little square where you can spent the rest of the day cozying in a park or small restaurant. Tuesday market will offer the freshest local produce, food and life music.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten July 9, 2023

Lots of stores, the restaurants are great, go no further! However, almost all of Sonoma closes at 9 or so. There's a speakeasy on the corner that looked great but it was late....

Perfect spot for wine tasting, dining, shopping. Bonus on Tuesday evening is the Farmers Market with food trucks and music. A perfect way to close out a day. Bring a chair or blanket and your beverage of choice. Beautiful park surrounds the City Hall building with clean bathroom facility on east side of plaza.

Great shops, restaurants and bars. Great area to walk. Hours of operation tend to be a bit odd. With there were more consistent hours of operations.

Lovely place to spend some time. Surrounded by shops and restaurants. We could have spent much more time there if we had arrived earlier in the day.

If we were to arrive at Sonoma Plaza after 5:00, what are the historical sights we might be able to enjoy and will the tasting rooms, stores, etc still be open? What time do most of those close in Sonoma Plaza?

Are there small dog friendly places to eat or have wine tastings in this area?

Larson Family Winery is dog friendly. In fact, their three labs welcome you as you enter and appear on the label of a nice red wine

I can't help with the dog question, but it looks like there would be plenty of spaces you could walk your dog around at the very least.
There are lots of wine tasting places located around the square! Four at least!

We stayed at a nice air bnb, it was a short drive away
I am flying into SFO and won't have a car available. Does anyone know of any shuttles/busses that include this location (or somewhere nearby) on the route? Thank you!

I think the people above me have answered the question. Airporter bus & the variety of wine tour buses. Of course the taxi services, maybe even Uber/Lyft can help you out.

Hi!
My family and I will be visiting Napa in the later part of July.
Wondering if the plaza will be hosting any events between July 20-22?
Thanks!
