As a frequent visitor to Brittany I'm often sad at the lack of gardens there are to visit here in this perfect climate. So I was pleased to finally find the lovely Kerambar'h gardens open to the public, for an afternoon away from the seaside. These gardens surround a small medieval/Renaissance castle, and were redesigned according to the original medieval plans. The medicinal plants and herb garden leads on to an orchard, a kitchen garden, a liturgical flower garden, and then a rose garden, with the peaceful backdrop of mature oak and beech trees. But don't come here if you are looking for excitement; we were the only people visiting on a July afternoon, and there are no shops, cafés, or even toilets (as far as I saw). Finally, resist the temptation to pick the tomatoes - the owner jokingly told me that he never has any left to eat!…
