Santa Monica had a very layed back vibe which is a welcome break from the concrete jungle of L.A. We spent most of the day there and took a hop on hop off tour to Venice as well. A must see for all visitors. Best...More

Nothing great about the pier. You overlook the ocean and have overpriced gift shops. It's nice to say you did it, but unless your eating there it won't take long. There are homeless and beggars so be ready for that.

A typical pier with tourist trinkets for sale and buskers. Rated as average at best as the water and sand around the pier looked very polluted. The pier itself was noisy with all the buskers. On the upside our lunch at Bubba Gump's which was...More

An old fashioned boardwalk pier with great neon at night. See the roller coaster and ferris wheel at night. Enjoy the foods and don't miss the "penny arcade" for vintage games and skee-ball. Also don't wish to be BIG when you speak to Zolar for...More

Loved the Pier, lots to see and plenty of cafes. I waited about 4 minutes at an ice cream counter, and the man gave me a free ice cream because I’d waited so long! How’s that for service?

Great fun on here with lovely views of the beach and sunset. Several souvenir shops and photo opportunities. A must visit. Muscle beach next door and it’s the end of Route 66.

Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a
balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a
thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers,
roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the
famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles
weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa
Monica pier spins high above the water, while park
revelers scream with delight riding the roller

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier. I think it would be a very cool place to go on a first date: great location, fun ambiance and very relaxed.
