We arranged this tour the week before and came up to Santa Barbara especially, we were staying in SoCal but thought we'd explore the area.
What a great day we had, we were picked up from our hotel, West Beach Inn in Santa Barbara, by Austin and driven in comfort to pick up the next couple. Along the way we had a really interesting and informative talk about the land and the climate and how it impacts on the growing and taste of the wine.
There were just the 4 of us on the tour which made it feel quite personalised, we could ask the vineyard staff many questions and tried wines not on their set tasting list. Lunch choices were great and the food was tasty and filling, Austin went off to collect it whilst we were at a tasting.
One of the tasting rooms Austin had planned to take us to in Solvang was closed when we got there but he immediately made a phone call and drove us to another nearby.
With plenty of wines to taste and great company, we had a fantastic day and will definitely return using Rooted Vines again.
We gained a lot of information on this trip about Santa Barbara wines, we wish we could get more in the UK, we'll definitely be looking out for them.
