There are several interactive video displays with focus on natural features and cultural history of the area. There is also a microscope with a projector so that visitors can look at tiny sea creatures found offshore.

We popped in here on our drive down Highway 1 to initially take a walk out onto San Simeon pier. It's a small discovery centre with staff volunteers with enthusiasm the size of the Pacific Ocean. What we initially thought would be a 5 minute...More

My kids had lot of fun at this discovery center with fishes in the aquarium and lots of information about various sea creatures. Worth a visit and doesn't take more than 15-20 mins. The staff was extremely helpful and explained a lot to the kids.

This coastal discovery center is not big, But its exhibits and the staff are nice. If you are able to study them a little, and ask questions. You may learn a lot of new information on ocean ecosystem.

A lovely stop. Helpful guides and informative . Very interesting to see what's in a drop of sea water! Kids enjoyed the break from the car. The pier is a lovely walk too.

A good place to stop for information on the area. They recommended a restaurant, and how to get to the elephant seal rookery. Displays mildly interesting

The exhibits are small and limited, but the staff is very interested in talking to and educating young people about the local ecosystem. Questions are most welcome. My children spotted an injured bird from the pier, and the wildlife specialist came with the girls to...More
