We went to see the art at the Petaluma Art Center. There are many unique larger size pieces outside the museum. There is also other art to see. Parking is free. It is by the Visitor Center for Petaluma.

Events, education and exhibits... always worth the visit. Try to catch an opening of a show as the celebration brings a crowd along with food and wine.

Surprisingly sophisticated exhibits, workshops and educational activities. The parking is plentiful and access from Hwy 101 via Lakeville Highway is a very easy, short hop. From here just a short walk to Old Town Petaluma.

Both in answering phone calls regarding entries there are discrepancies and in the way phone call requests are not returned one gets the message that there is no one at any of the stations! Disappointed as this was not the way it was around 2010 etc.
Exhibits are good though.

Great location, friendly staff, wonderful exhibits, and art classes!!
They were setting up for a new Degas exhibit which shouldn't be missed. Summer there is full of great workshops and art classes for all ages. Actually the workshops and classes go all year but we visited in June and the place was buzzing with activity. So happy to see the arts alive in Petaluma!

For an art center this size, the Petaluma Art Center delivers way beyond expectation. We live in Petaluma, and have been treated to a wide array of showings since the Center opened seven years ago, all tastefully designed, well executed, and visually/culturally stimulating. Last weekend, the Center topped itself again with "Edgar Degas, the Private Impressionist", the private collection of Robert Flynn Johnson. This is the kind of collection one expects in the larger, more widely known Art museums of the world, not in a modest community art center in a city of 60,000, and certainly not so close to home, or at such an affordable price ($10). An added treat, the collector happened to be on hand, discussing Degas, the collection, and the back stories of many of the works. This exhibit is in Petaluma through the third week of July, and is well worth the time. Likewise, the Arts Center always offers something surprising, stimulating, and worthy of a visit.

This is a nice example of turning the old railroad station into a useful art and craft center. Adjacent to the SMART terminal, they have a rotating display of local artists worth seeking out. There are memberships available for continuous access or simply pay as you go. Staffed by friendly volunteers.

The Petaluma Arts Center is located in the former train station and has very nice artwork from the local populace which, I understand, is always changing (the art, not the people). The lady at the desk was very friendly and welcoming.
