About
Since 1919, the exquisite beauty and unique challenges of Pebble Beach Golf Links have electrified golfers and spectators alike. Designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, the course hugs California’s rugged coastline, providing wide-open vistas, cliff-side fairways and sloping greens. Over the years, Pebble Beach Golf Links has been the site of golf’s most prestigious tournaments such as the annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and five U.S. Open Championships, including the 2010 U.S. Open. We are excited and honored to welcome back the U.S. Open to Pebble Beach for the sixth time in 2019!

- Teemu SallinenHelsinki, Finland17 contributionsOnce in a lifeThis must do things in life. Sadly, during our day there was massive wind that made it a very challenging day. It's just something you need to prepare by the sea. The course conditions were good, the greens were slippery, and everything just worked perfectly. The marshal was extremely helpful and kept the round going in time. Pro shop was a nice experience, and the staff was super friendly.Visited March 2023Written March 22, 2023
- djgets1Palatine, Illinois23 contributionsDream trip for a golferThere's a well known theme park that some people say is the happiest place on Earth. As a golfer, I can say that the Pebble Beach golf links area takes that title. My son, a friend and I played Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach. They share a common, wonderful practice area. I was giddy the first day on the practice putting green at Spyglass. I just knew that all the men putting and milling around were so happy to be there. Spyglass itself has a nice pro shop but is nothing the size of the Pebble Beach pro shop and stores. Spyglass was a wonderful golf course. My particular tip for playing Spyglass is to be aware of the rough which is thick and coarse. It wasn't too tall but it was extremely 'grabby'. Your usual chip shot effort will leave you well short of your intended distance. At the end of your round, enjoy a unique shoe cleaning. Of course Pebble Beach is iconic. I've visited Pebble Beach before. But this time, practicing on their putting green with the anticipation of playing the course was fantastic. Playing along the ocean was in my mind and affected my shots. When you get a tee time at Pebble Beach, they send you a link that includes tips on how to play the course. One tip that they give you is this - Know that the greens slope towards the ocean. Putting at Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach was the most difficult putting that I've ever encountered. So many times, you were sure that the green sloped away from the ocean but found that they did slope towards the ocean. But the degree to which this happened varied so I was never sure on how much break to play. Pebble Beach suggests that you get a caddie who knows the slope of the greens. Yes, Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill are expensive. But if you are an avid golfer, it's a dream of a lifetime.Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten May 5, 2023

I took a group of freinds to Pebble Beach for a golf vacation. We stayed in a cabin on the course. I spent over 25k on golf and accommodations on the trip. I bought a jacket in the pro shop. Since it was warm when I got home I did not wear the jacket until this fall. The zipper was faulty so I called them thinking it would be no problem to exchange it. Wrong they would not let me get another jacket. They offered me 30% off another jacket. I told them that was not acceptable. She told a manager would call me back. I never got a call back. It has really pit a bad taste in my mouth and I will never think about the place the same again.

Always w9ndered if it would be worth it. It was. Every single way shape and form, worth it! Spyglass and Spanish not to be missed. Can def skip delmonte unless you think of that as a driving range for the real rounds

This really is golf in heaven. The most beautiful course in the world and challenging as well. Definitely not overhyped.
Do walk the course. And get a forecaddie - you won’t regret it.

My two sons aged 13 and 8 played pebble beach as part of my 50th birthday road trip. We were able to get them single spots with other groups at short notice.
Super friendly in the club shop and especially Richard the starter who made my boys feel so welcome. There is a free shuttle bus for the very short drive to the Academy over the road from the Hay par 3 where there is a driving range and practice putting and chipping areas. Again super friendly there.
The course was as expected spectacular, especially 4 to 10 along the coast and 18, helped even more by my 8 year old getting a birdie on 5! Play was slow but there are worse places in the world to spend 5 hours plus.
Yes it's expensive but worth every penny(or cent!).

The slowest round of golf we have ever played. We waited on every shot. The guests who were playing Pebble Beach did not understand the etiquette of the game of golf - and their games were inadequate to play this type of course. We talked to one of the course rangers and he just said ‘welcome to Pebble’. It is just a money making machine with no regard to who plays and their capability. Avoid at all cost!

We did not sign up early for a tee time. We were staying at the Inn at Spanish Bay. We called the day before and got a 2:10 tee time. They did warn us that we were not guaranteed to finish. We played as a twosome. They just jam people on in the afternoon. If we would have finished it would have been a 6 hour round. We hung it up after 14 holes. The charge was $565 per. At that rate I think they should limit the number of tee times so you could finish in 4-4.5 hours. Most holes had 3 groups on them all the way through 14.

Hi. My husband is golfing Pebble Beach on June 12 and I plan to walk along with him. Are there benches or somewhere to sit and rest on the course? Thank you, in advance, for your help.

I played Bandon Dunes last year, and bag services had your clubs waiting for you at each course. I’m playing the Pebble courses in 2 weeks. Does the resort have the same services? Also, the PB driving range looks pretty far from the first tee. Is there a shuttle or do you need to walk? Thank you.

With Covid who how the resort will handle bags...usually they move them around for you. And yes there is a shuttle between the course and the range every few minutes. Have fun!

Make sure they don’t slip a guest into your group at the last minute. They put a guy who had never played golf with us. He kept hitting our ball even with his caddie! Why would you want to play pebble when you have never played golf before? Very frustrating

Booked the only tee time available at Pebble Beach Golf during our trip to Monterey Peninsula. It was a 3:45 and 10 days after aeration. A). Pretty sure I won’t get through all 18. Any guesses on how many holes I’ll get through with average pace of play? B). Anyone experiences the course around aeration?
Thanks!

Played yesterday and the greens were fine. And extremely small. You should easily finish the round approx five hours
They will push the double shot cocktail $36.00 each. Stick with the $10.00 beers.
Fore caddy not needed.

My husband and I are volunteers for this years US Open. I booked a room on airbnb last year; it's in The Aromas, CA area. If anyone is familiar with that area and what travel time I should allow that would be helpful. I'm thinking may an hour and a half to get from house to volunteer shuttle in Monterrey.

I read on the US Open website that bags bigger than 6”x 6” x 6” are prohibited. Is this enforced? That size is rather small for a handbag and the handbag I’m using for my trip is larger. Would they not permit me inside?
IanCleddy

Sadly yes it is enforced. The bag has to be clear as well. Not surprisingly you can buy them at the gate for 5 bucks a piece... You can leave the bag in a tent but it was pretty insecure. So much so we forgot our passports and cash was in the back pack and had to go back and retrieve them. They are all piled up in a gazebo and whoever returns to pick theirs up has the chance to snoop about...

We want to attend US Open in 2019, and we are in need of suggestions for planning this 2-3 day trip. This will be our first time visiting Pebble Beach as well as our first time being a spectator here. Also we will be working with a budget.

Let me try this again when I was in the area I want to staying in Santa Cruz which is approximately 15 miles north it's a nice area but during this time next year during the golf tournament pricing is probably going to be pretty high so I'm not sure what to say but it's a beautiful golf course I did walk a few holes and it's beautiful near the Blue Water of the Pacific

Very expensive area for lodging & food. If you can find a travel package that may be the best bet. Compare that versus doing your own thing.
Who are the best Caddies? Coming in early October

did pebble last august and was told by some to just go without a caddie or cart if you get a cart ,remember that no wheels on the course ,so you do more lots of walking, you get to do your own thing ,but I guess some people think its more of an experience, dont think spending a 100 dollars is worth it ,either way ,my boys and I had an abslute fabulous time ,although it took to long ,because the course was very very busy, and get ready to spend some major dollars on any stuff later ,60.00 for a cap and a nice polo will cost you about 150,,such a joke that part is,ENJOY THE ROUND ,ITS AWSOME
