Visitors to the tasting room are also invited to purchase artisan lunch items from our seasonal menu to enjoy alongside our award-winning wines. Producing Bordeaux and Rhône varietals that thrive in our white “calcareous” limestone soils, our experienced staff is passionate about guiding guests through our small-lot, handmade vintages. These are wines of distinctive character, with a profound expression of place in every bottle, making Calcareous a must-visit hilltop destination for those seeking the very best of Paso Robles. Loved it!
We went here with family and friends and had a wonderful time at Wine Down Wednesday. We were on vacation, but it was clear that this was a favorite spot for the locals. We had an outdoor table with nice views, listened to some great music, drank very good wine, and ate some delicious pizza. What's not to love!

Beautiful, relaxing afternoon at Calcareous Winery
Don't be discouraged by the road to this winery. It is worth the trip. It is only about 5 miles out of town, but the road is narrow and winding. We did not have reservations, but we were shown to a table on the patio area overlooking the valley and hills. We were not at all rushed and given tastes of their product by a very knowledgeable young man. You can also order food to compliment your tasting. A very pleasant afternoon.

If you had to choose one.
If you had to choose just one winery that perfectly captures the essence of Paso Robles wine country, this is the one. They offer high-quality wines, excellent tasting room service, cuisine par excellence, and an astounding view on a manageable scale. This is not a mega-crowd winery; instead, it's quaint in an "old Paso" way. Five stars for the best wine in the Paso District.

Most of the tastings here are done on the beautiful outdoor patio where you can see the town of Paso Robles below.

We had a reservation but arrived almost an hour early from another and they accommodated us with no fuss. Our server was Bri and she walked us several wines with no rush. It was a gorgeous day and we ended up spending about two hours tasting.

We visited Calcareous twice during our trip to Paso Robles in February 2024; it was THAT good! Come for the wine, but also enjoy the food, the view and the service. The Paso Robles area is beautiful; far exceeding the natural beauty of the Napa & Sonoma areas. And, Calcareous Vineyard has what is likely the best view of the entire area. The attached picture was taken - without filters - from the tasting room patio. Gorgeous! We enjoyed all of their wines - ALL of them. The food menu is also exciting and every item we ordered proved to be delicious, good portions, and reasonably priced. Plan your visit to Calcareous so that you can include lunch as part of your day here. On top of the wonderful wines & food was the service from those that explained it all, served it all and shared their knowledge & stories of the area with us. We were served by George on one visit and Christian on the second visit as well as the tasting room manager Bryce. All were well-versed in the wines they were representing, and the Paso Robles area. I would hire any of them for my own business! Thanks Calcareous for a great experience.

Beautiful setting. The tasting room is large with all of their wines on display. The tasting was great. My wife and others went to see the goats and enjoyed that. I recommend this spot.

I must return here to fully appreciate the views from this winery. The day we visited the weather was rainy and the surrounding his were largely obscured by fog. That being said or sommelier, Eric, was outstanding and wines are exceptional. A truly enjoyable experience.

Our Oct. 7th visit to this Winery was the best experience of our trip to the area!
We have not made our 'annual' journey to this lovely area since the Covid phenom began. The service staff and host were so knowledgeable and friendly.
Nate shared his vast knowledge of the current offerings from the house vineyard, while the wait staff served our selections from the chef's amazing kitchen. The Vin Gris Cuvee and Tres Violet were lovely paired with the Croquettes, Persimmon salad and Autumn Veggie melt. The freshness, quality and preparation were 5 star! We will be back often!

We're members here and try to pickup our shipments in person whenever possible. The grounds are quite lovely, tables and chairs outside where you can enjoy a great view of the valley! This past visit we came midweek and had the whole patio to ourselves to enjoy our tasting and lunch. There were some tastings held inside too due to yellow jackets, but they didn't bother us. Christian is knowledgeable of the wines and was attentive. Weekends are definitely busier but that hasn't affected service.
