About
Perched atop the property at 1,800 feet above sea level, overlooking the expansive Salinas Valley below, our vineyard provides an unbelievable setting to experience the beauty of Paso Robles. Beautiful, relaxing afternoon at Calcareous Winery
Don't be discouraged by the road to this winery. It is worth the trip. It is only about 5 miles out of town, but the road is narrow and winding. We did not have reservations, but we were shown to a table on the patio area overlooking the valley and hills. We were not at all rushed and given tastes of their product by a very knowledgeable young man. You can also order food to compliment your tasting. A very pleasant afternoon.

If you had to choose one.
If you had to choose just one winery that perfectly captures the essence of Paso Robles wine country, this is the one. They offer high-quality wines, excellent tasting room service, cuisine par excellence, and an astounding view on a manageable scale. This is not a mega-crowd winery; instead, it's quaint in an "old Paso" way. Five stars for the best wine in the Paso District.

Good wine with even a better view
Most of the tastings here are done on the beautiful outdoor patio where you can see the town of Paso Robles below. We had a reservation but arrived almost an hour early from another and they accommodated us with no fuss. Our server was Bri and she walked us several wines with no rush. It was a gorgeous day and we ended up spending about two hours tasting.

    Great winery experience
This was a highly recommended winery and it did NOT disappoint!! First, the view was great - plus it was nice to have the sun out for the first time during our visit to the Paso Robles area. Second, the wine was great & reasonably priced! We purchased several bottles for shipment back home. Thirdly, the service was just awesome Dimitri (?) provided superior service the entire afternoon and we stayed and had lunch. Would automatically go back if we're in the Paso Robles region in the future.

Worth a Visit while in Paso!
The view and ambiance was wonderful. We had a lovely table overlooking the valley. It reminded us of northern Tuscany. The wine was delicious. We had a wonderful lunch and visit. We purchased several bottles to bring home. I was interested in the planting of the vines and our hostess brought over the assistant winemaker. Which was so lovely. I can see why this winery continuous to gain acclaim. Highly recommend a visit here on a trip to Paso!

    Excellent Experience
The winery was very busy when we arrived and even though we had a reservation we fell through the cracks and had to sit for quite awhile. What happened once the staff recognized the situation is a testament to excellent customer service, and really talented staff. A special shoutout to Izzy, our server who was knowledgeable, fun, interesting, and gave us an excellent tasting experience. Well done!

    Great Views and Excellent Food!
Calcareous Vineyard was one of our favorite places to visit in Paso Robles. We make a reservation for lunch and wine tasting (allow at least 90 minutes). We asked to be seated at a table inside their beautiful glass-walled tasting room. We had a full menu of artisan lunch items available for purchase during our visits. While we were sipping on their award-winning wines, my husband and I shared a Devil's Canyon Burger ($26.00) and a Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($24.00) along with a Warm Demi Baguette ($10.00). The service, food, and staff were excellent. We brought four (4) bottles of their 2021 Estate Syrah ($60.00 each). We highly recommend this vineyard and their food.

We visited Calcareous twice during our trip to Paso Robles in February 2024; it was THAT good! Come for the wine, but also enjoy the food, the view and the service. The Paso Robles area is beautiful; far exceeding the natural beauty of the Napa & Sonoma areas. And, Calcareous Vineyard has what is likely the best view of the entire area. The attached picture was taken - without filters - from the tasting room patio. Gorgeous! We enjoyed all of their wines - ALL of them. The food menu is also exciting and every item we ordered proved to be delicious, good portions, and reasonably priced. Plan your visit to Calcareous so that you can include lunch as part of your day here. On top of the wonderful wines & food was the service from those that explained it all, served it all and shared their knowledge & stories of the area with us. We were served by George on one visit and Christian on the second visit as well as the tasting room manager Bryce. All were well-versed in the wines they were representing, and the Paso Robles area. I would hire any of them for my own business! Thanks Calcareous for a great experience.

Beautiful views, scrumptious wines and fabulous service from George! We were so impressed with everything here, specifically the Syrah. And our server George had the BEST stories!
