About
Stretching just over three miles, these spectacular caves beneath the hills east of Nerja contain impressive stalactite and stalagmites formations. Discovered by accident in 1959, the cave has many well-marked routes, though not all are open to the public because of conservation and archaeological efforts. Cave paintings, fossils and skeletal remains have been excavated here, which you can find displayed at the Nerja Museum.
Hop on the red tourist train to get to the caves from Nerja. During peak seasons, opt for skip-the-line tickets to jump ahead or take an exclusive night tour for fewer crowds.

We were traveling with small kids and didn’t have reserved tickets, so we were pleasantly surprised when the sign said it was just a 30 minute wait. We double confirmed that it was just 30 minutes before paying the $12 to park. We parked, took a bus to the top, got in the absurdly long line to buy tickets, and learned it was more than 1.5 hours if we were actively buying a ticket. With the ticket line, that would have easily been 2 hours in a cramped space. We turned around and left. No refunds for the parking, and a complete waste of time.

I went to this and rode the tram up the side of a mountain and thought it was cool. I already bought my tickets before I went there so I did not have to wait in line like other people did to buy tickets. They fit a lot of people in the tram so it is best if you get on first so you can have a view out the window instead of a view of some tall guy's shoulders or head, When I was on the tram, everybody started singing "Sweet Caroline," which I thought was weird so I did not sing along. I just stood there thinking it was weird that everybody was singing instead of looking at the mountain. If you are on the tram, there are some windows that open so you don't have to worry quite as much about somebody passing gas during the ride. If you have to do that while riding the tram, make sure the windows are open and maybe wait until everybody starts singing so nobody hears it. I think you should go here and do this because it is a lot of fun and they have taken all necessary precautions to protect against the effects of people passing gas.

Purchase the Ride and Dine tickets for a Friday evening at 6 PM. The Tram ride up and down was well worth the price, but we should not have taken the Dining option. Served cafeteria style, in a cafeteria style setting, this food provided is just not good. Based on the pictures from the web site, we were also planning on having a cocktail and enjoying the views from the restaurant / bar area. To do this we would have needed to wait for a table at the Peaks restaurant, and now being after dark there was no view to be had. Bottom line - take the Tram during daylight hours , it is a great experience.

Have used Viator before with no troubles. Bought these tickets but they do not give you a scheduled time. The Tram goes on 2 hour periods. Without a scheduled time you have to wait until there is space available. At the entrance gate they charge $12 to enter and said that it is at least a 90 minute wait. We turned around. Only buy tram tickets from their website.

I went to this park with my husband and 17 yo daughter. I recommend getting a ticket with a TIMED entry. If you buy a ticket online that doesn’t have this you still have to go through the line and wait 2 h to board. There is not much to do at the valley station where you catch the Tram. A little gift shop, cafeteria, and teeny museum. It’s not 2 h of activity but it’s still interesting. The ride up is 11-12 min. The ride is really interesting. At the top is a cafe, gift shop (same stuff as below) and a restaurant (closed when we were there) . There is a path to some snowy play areas that saw lots of kids sledding and playing. Picnic tables and a great lookout up top. We are from Canada, spoiled by Banff and the Rocky Mtns. We still had fun . We took an Uber up and back. No problems and no wait for the Uber today. Rumor has it that’s not always the case and it might be better to take your own vehicle. We are all glad we went.

Great experience! We only waited 20 minutes or so. We were prepared for the cold and snow, so we spent a little time outside when we got to the top. The snow was too deep to hike the trails without boots and gear. We really enjoyed it.

Definitely worth it. It was 68 degrees at the bottom and 19 degrees at the top with five feet of snow. It was an indoor day. I would like to come back when the weather is more agreeable for outside activities.

Our daughter and son-in-law used to live in the area. Our previous experiences with the tram have always been great. However, for this trip, it took at least two hours to get on the tram. We prepaid for the tickets for the date we went. This gave us no advantage - we had to stand in a long (out the building) line like all others who had not purchased their tickets. Best approach is to buy online date and time tickets in advance from the tramway website. What made the experience worse was as the day progressed and we waited to go up, the weather turned windy and cold. We had a party of 6 adults and five young children. We took advantage of the cafeteria while we waited - it was reasonably priced and had good options for the children.

Views were beautiful and well worth the $30.00 price. Staff very friendly and helpful. Snow was 5ft deep and packed. Went snowshoeing, lucky that we brought our own because rental shop was closed that day n most of trails were closed. We did hike the Desert View Trail n it was well worth it. Beautiful views n such a amazing surroundings. Definitely recommend taking tram to top and enjoy the views. Plan on coming back soon in spring to hike to Hidden Lake. Got some great ideas for hikes from staff n other visitors. Had a wonderful day!!! Tip: dress warm at the top!

Alternatively do you offer a military discount?

Why are these advertised as tickets? They’re vouchers you exchange for tickets, with no apparent advantage over just buying a ticket - and with the disadvantage of not getting you a confirmed, timed booking.

In my experience in August 2022, we selected an entry time slot and showed up a bit early. I think we went up shortly after arriving, perhaps that is why you think this is a voucher and not a ticket. By the time you park, walk up to the tram, etc the timing isn't exact. It is a nice spot, enjoy a hike and the views!
How long do I have before my ticket expires if not used due to weather?

How far in advance can we purchase rides please. Dates for August are greyed out but we are unsure if it is because we are only in June now. Thank you in anticipation

I went in June and there was availability on pretty much any ride up due to not many people go there in June. Parking lots mostly empty, etc. We made reservations the week before but really you didn't even need a reservation in June.

Online purchases are closed, so what time should I go when I make an on-site purchase? It opens at 10 a.m., but until what time can I get a ticket to the site?

I think they open the gates for autos at 7 AM. Maybe the first tram goes up at 10, but you should purchase tickets earlier.

Are dogs allowed on the tram?

No I dont think so.
It is not really safe for them at the top with all the potential wild things up there anyway

If we buy tickets in advance for Wed Nov 24, are we able to skip the line and get directly on to a tram? We have lots of activities planned for Thanksgiving and don't really want to spend time in queue.
Is the $29 ticket for a round trip or one way ride?
