Beautiful picnic tables socially distanced with Koi ponds and green grass. You can buy everything you need for a fabulous picnic inside the store, plus watch the cheese makers. But best of all—clean restrooms!!

Best pit stop on our way to our B&B near Yosemite. Try their samples before you decide on a particular cheese, as some of their varieties are better than you may think. We opted for a 2 lb Aged Gouda and 1 lb Smoked Cheddar. They offer a nice assortment of crackers, salamis, fresh bread and other pairings to create a picnic or appetizer tray. After November, they ship their cheeses within the U.S. We had the grilled cheese and the grilled cheese and ham. While the cheeses were good on the sandwich, the overall quantity was not worth the price. I suggest sticking to purchasing their yummy cheese and making your own grilled cheese.

If you are in interested in sampling a variety of gouda cheeses, this is a great stop. The grilled cheese sandwich was just o.k. on very nondescript bread.
There are small goats which can be seen and ducks which can be fed.

What a lovely find on the long drive back to San Francisco. The Gouda cheese is quite good. The grilled cheeses were oddly just ok. But the grounds are pretty and the kids had a great time feeding the goats and fish. We stayed for quite some time while they ran around.

Always a fun, quick stop for high-quality cheese and snacks. Sample the many gouda flavors, buy a loaf of bread and assorted toppings. Eat at the picnic tables. Feed the farm animals for fun.

A unique place that is a work of love from two immigrants from Holland many years ago, bringing their beloved Gouda cheese making skills and turning it into a world class cheese making operation.
The grounds are also quite lovely with a large koi pond surrounded by giant weeping willows -- a nice place to relax with a grilled cheese sandwich and some wine from their shop!
Mild goulda cheese was great as was the goat gouda cheese.

Passing through Oakdale on the way back to SFO and stopped at Oakdale Cheese for lunch and to watch the Gouda being made. There are a couple of windows where the children could watch the cheese making process - no cheese does not come from shops - animals and fish to feed - really great grilled cheese toasties!

I just love this place and make it a point to visit when I am in town. As you’d expect, the cheese is fresh and outstanding. I used to think all Grilled Cheese sandwiches tasted the same, but their’s is by far the best! Their tomato bisque is also topnotch. The area around it, which includes a goat petting zoo and a pond with exotic fishes, is quite pleasant and fun to walk around. Lady behind the counter was super friendly. I just wish I came in time to watch them make the cheese as the machines are viewable in the back of the store.

Stop and sample - then buy - the best gouda anywhere. We especially like their aged gouda, but there are lots of others from which to choose. In addition to the cheese, there's a mouth-watering array of fancy foods - from crackers to jams to condiments and more. We had a couple of their yummy grilled cheese sandwiches - a bargain at $3.99 - and ate them at a picnic table in their lovely garden. Kids in the family can enjoy (and feed) the goats and chickens in the adjacent paddock. And lastly, finish off with one of their rich and addictive "black and white" brownies. If you can't make it to Oakdale, check for them at your local Bay Area farmers market. We were first introduced to their products at the one in Mtn. View, CA.
