We were surprised but not shocked to see so many plastic wrappings of chocolate in this place. The view of the mountain is there but no cleared paths marked for access.

Mount Shasta is a wonderful area, where we stayed we woke up to be able to see the Shasta that morning. It was as breaking taking from that view as it was from all the others. Take the time to add Shasta to your road trip.

Mount Shasta is more than just a place to glance at from your car window along I-5! There is so much to do around there in both winter and summer. There are great gear-rental places for skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, climbing, etc. The town is SMALL but the shops and restaurants are surprisingly good! There are lots of great Airbnbs and hotels to stay in and no end to the outdoor activities.

This town has everything you're looking for in a mountain community - cute downtown with shops & restaurants, plenty of hotels and campgrounds, and plenty of natural beauty all around. Prices are reasonable. People are friendly and welcoming to tourists.

How can you go wrong! This is a magnificent mountain. We did not have a lot of time to visit the visitors center.

I was there to shoot the mountain. I am a photographer. Going late spring, if the snow is going, requires shooting strategically from the north or east. There are plenty of places to stop. I found a radius of about 2-6 miles out was best. As usual, early or late light is best. Use a polarizer. Wait around since the mountain creates its own weather.

We drove up the slope until we found a spot with a clear view of the whole mountain. We then pulled out our chairs and stretched out, waiting for the sun to set. It is a lifetime memory.

Wierd place. Alot of weirdos there. Shasta county calls it the 3rd Shasta, why? Definitely a wierd spot. People there boast of witch and warlock ties. Nothing very big to do at all. Seems odd.

Driving up to Mt. Shasta is a pleasure, in itself (take Everett Memorial Hwy straight up to Bunny Flat which puts you right at the base). There are several turnouts to view the surrounding area, trees and hills, in the distance. Coming to the area in autumn, the Black Oak trees, poplar and manzanita, are turning lovely shades of yellow, red & orange. It’s an easy drive, not a lot of curves, which is always a relief for those prone to carsickness. Also Bunny Flat is 6,950 ft. in elevation, so altitude sickness isn’t likely either. We did NOT hike to the top but went up a few hundred feet from the parking lot to the meadow. It’s a perfect spot to take a few pictures with spectacular Mt. Shasta in the background.
