My husband and I travel often and book with trip advisory pretty regularly. I have never had a complaint about any of our excursions. Well, this was the exception. I booked us a 2 hour Sea Car Tour. First we had a little dificulty finding the office. When I called for directions, I was told she didn't know where we were and come to find out we were maybe a block away. Opon our arrival, the sign in person was not what I would consider suited for the job. She didn't speak loud enough, was too busy with her phone and didn't seem to be to interested in her job or explaining the process. After we filled out the necessary paperwork, got our helmets, and followed her outside she explains to us which way to drive out the gargage, 2 loops around the traffic circle, etc. She walks us into the parking gagage and shows us where to return the car and then tells us which car we will be driving. She walks us over to the car and tells us to take a video of the car before leaving for our own protection. My husband starts looking at the car and it is damaged on all four sides. My husband complains about the condition of the vehicle. She stays "people hit things that don't move". Doesn't offer us another vehicle and there are plenty to choose from. She also tells us we are better off using our GPS instead of the provided GPS. Needless to say my husband is very irritatetd at this point and I am concerned about our safety. Here we are the only car leaving out on this tour, with what she considers an inadequate GPS and a car that has been hit on all four sides. I asked my husband if he wanted to skip the excursion and he said yes. She then tells me she cannot give us a refund because of how we booked our trip. I asked her did that mean since I booked through Trip Advisory and not directly with the office. She said yes and got the helmets and left. I will never book with this company again or refer them. I probably won't be booking through Trip Advisory either. I will take some of the blame for thinking Trip Advisory only posted reputible companies. A lesson learned!

It was ok...glad we did it but wouldn't do it again, or even recommend it to anyone else. The GPS screen was on low so we couldn't see the map. Finally figured out how to brighten it up, but after being stressed about the directions. The volume wasn't high enough and came in and out. The agents, or the tour guide, did not let us know about the "red" and the "blue" routes. We kept following the directions but finally realized we were way to far out for the 1 hour tour. The GPS map confusingly shows all routes, for all lengths of tours. It should only show the route that you reserved. We were stressed again about getting back on time because we kept following, unknowingly, the longer route. We were 2 adults...115 pounds and 195 pounds and it was super scrunched. The driver had a hard time driving because of how narrow the seats were. And it's not made for someone over 5'11". The drivers legs got cramped, again because of the narrow cock pit. Helmets are required, unlike what the pictures show.

This was a pretty good experience. The car is a bit smaller than I expected so it was crowded. This wouldn't be a good idea for people that are on the heavier side. I had to keep talking my arm underneath my daughters, so she had room to steer her so that was awkward. Everyone in the office was super helpful and friendly. The navigation on the gps was good and information during tour was good. 🙂

This was fun. The yellow cars are pretty dated it’s a rough bumpy ride. The staff wasn’t very attentive. Not rude but more like they would love to be anywhere else but talking to you.

The Sea Car engine was so loud that you could not hear the audio and the tablet had such poor quality that you could not see the screen in the sun. Without the use of our personal phone, it really could have been a scary and unsafe situation. At least we can say it was an adventure!

The route they set up was glorious! It took only a few minutes to get out of town and along the bay. Truly, a road less traveled with up close views of the water, rocks jutting up and people and dogs frolicing on the sand. The wind was in our hair and joy in our heart.

Is there a size/weight limit for the coupes? Also, can you bring a large dog (75 lb German Shepherd) with you in the passenger seat?

We’re visiting Monterey for Thanksgiving and would like to rent a car. I know this question may be idiotic. However, can anyone tell me how your experience was when it was cold on your trip? Besides being chilly, were you still comfortable? Was it windy on your trip to still enjoy the experience?

It's basically a small convertible - so you are fully exposed to the elements. Suggest windbreaker or jacket that protects you from the wind and sweaters or heavier jackets for what ever the temperature is.

My husband is a big guy. I would love to take him and one of the sea car Tours. But do you have ones that would accommodate him? I don't want him to get embarrassed.

Hi La. Children must be at least 4 years of age to be a passenger in our Scoot Coupes (two-seater). For the California Roadster children can be as young as 6 years old, but anyone younger is not permitted due to the absence of car seats/boosters. For children to ride in the rear facing rumble seat they must be at least 8 years old, otherwise a parent must accompany them in the rear seat. Minimum age to drive/rent a Sea Car is 21 and must have a valid driver's license. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 831-884-6807. Thank you for your interest in wanting to see Monterey the fun way!

Hi Diane,
Our office is located at 230 Alvarado St. Conveniently located by the Portola Hotel & Spa Hotel. The tour routes are based on a one or two hour tour. People who have taken the car for three hours or more (up to five hours) have a "free spirited" drive around the coastline with the option of having a GPS for the two hour route. All Sea Cars come with helmets included and a map if you decided to visit other points of interest that are not along the preset GPS tour routes.
Rates:
1 Hour Tour (Cruise the Coast): $60.00
2 Hour Tour (Monterey, Pacific Grove): $110.00
3 Hour Tour (Free Spirit): $160.00
4 Hour Tour: (Free Spirit): $195.00
We also have the California Roadster, an all electric super quiet LSV that seats up to four, available for rentals. A majority of people rent the Roadster for the ultimate scenic drive along the coastline of Monterey, Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach, 17-Mile Drive. Please see below for the list of rates for the Roadster
1 Hour (Cruise the Coast): $75
2 Hour (Monterey, Pacific Grove): $140.00
3 Hour (The Ultimate Drive): $195.00
If you have any other questions. Please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail. Thank you very much for your interest in wanting to see Monterey the fun way!

It's $60 a car for one hour or a 3 hour is like $160 I believe. You go to their office and then cannery row, Pacific grove and along the coastline is really pretty. They have a website that tells you more.
