Nice hike along ghe Big River Trail. It is an easy to moderate hike. There is some water action below. GOod views of the river & the forest. You could spend an hour to several hours here.

We walked down to this area where the river meets the ocean. People were surfing, paddle boarding and boating in kayaks. The beach area was immense.

Big River, where the river meets the ocean, is a place of stunning beauty, not to be missed! The rock formations, the deep blue of the moving water, and the soaring birds make you feel as though you have entered another world. Don't miss it!

I'd never been to Mendocino and I was awestruck by the natural beauty. I wish I had more time to wander and investigate. It's well worth the drive from Healdsburg. I cant wait to go back again

My wife and I visited this beach in October ... lovely day in mid 60's but several people were in the cold water none the less. Nice sand, a bit of sea glass and river otters completed the picture. Picnic place for sure

The first time we went to The Big River we were blown away. Service was impeccable and food was original and surprising. We couldn't wait to go the next time, but the management had changed. Service was negligible. Food was not well prepared. Really sad about this place. Still good for watching the sunset.

This is a very gentle service road/hike/bike trail with beautiful scenery. If the weather's poor take the umbrella and enjoy!

We did an afternoon paddle in a wooden outrigger canoe from Catch-A-Canoe under Hwy 1, across the bridge from Mendocino. We paddled a few miles inland, but within about a half mile, we encountered a fur seal basking in the sun on a log. It let us get quite close to snap some pictures. Being from the Southeast, it was a unique experience for us. Beautiful scenery, very peaceful!
