It's all about the music

Coffee and pastry outside..people talking about music. I can just imagine Joni Mitchell pumping out Blue. As the guy in the guy in the queue told me, this is a special place. The store itself is not gentrified..I love it..a blast from the past..a deli with fresh cooked food and groceries.

An extraordinary building

It was a surprise to find the "wild west" in the middle of the city. Great interior, attention paid to the details, a spectacular place to take photos.

Cool spot
Jul 2019 • Friends
We stopped by to soak in the atmosphere since Laurel Canyon is where musicians hung out in the day. Just feet from the store is Jim Morrison's old house (apparently very rebuilt). This is a cool store. Parking is a little weird since the store shares space with a restaurant that requires valet parking. But the store itself is pretty laid back. Clerks were very friendly and proudly pointed us to their imported English candy section. Check expiration dates. I bought dog treats and didn't realize until much later that they'd expired more than a year ago.

Fun Stop for Nostalgia
Jun 2019 • Couples
I've met people who knew Jim Morrison (Doors) and visited some of his hangouts. We stopped here and found an interesting little place that met our needs (picking up some things for a party). The gps was a little misleading as when it said to turn it didn't say into a parking lot, so we ended up looping around and back again (interesting drive, btw) before turning in correctly.
The store is packed, small, with narrow aisles. There are pictures on the wall that add to the atmosphere and I've got to listen to the songs again about the place. But the people are friendly and it was nice to stop at a historic spot.

Love this store...

Returned to see the store again, having visited 6 years ago when I was last in Los Angeles.

The people are lovely and the sandwiches superb. Really nice place to sit, chat and meet all kinds of interesting people. I really enjoyed my time here.

Still living the life
Jun 2018
The Canyon Country Store's place in rock history is well known and well documented here on Trip Advisor and elsewhere. What is not so well known is that there is a coffee stall outside on the porch and a deli counter inside that between them provide a great breakfast. For six dollars you can enjoy a great breakfast and absorb the wonderful atmosphere of a place where so many great musicians have done the same.

We always stop here when in LA visiting family. They carry lots of British products which my Brit husband craves and we can't get in Mexico. Marmite anyone?

A little bit of everything

Went in here after dinner downstairs at Pace. The place is so eclectic and charming, I had to check it out. It's a great store with groceries, candy, booze etc. Also there are a few chairs to sit outside on the porch.

Critical part of rock history.

The great and near great of 60's and early 70's music scene lived in Laurel Canyon and often could be spotted here. Place should be a historic landmark. Jim Morrison's house is on the side street behind the store. All kinds of groceries and a small deli. I got a corned beef sandwich that was 3 star. The store given it's history gets 5 stars.
