Neighborhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

For movie buffs of Hollywood movies, visiting the universal studios, walk of fame were all worth the visit as it was on my bucket list for a long time and all these places were worth visiting. Finally Visited this place on 18th May 2023. The weather was good and not very crowded and managed to go around and see with my wife and managed to click a few pics.

Under whelming. The tour was only 30 minutes and I don’t think it was worth the $25. No history video - just an empty theatre.

The theater was impressive. Our guide explained that this theater was built specifically to house the Oscar presentations. We saw all the behind the scene areas where Oscar presenters are located before taking this stage and where Oscar winners are present after receiving their awards. We were on center stage and took pictures galore. The history of the Academy was explained. We saw a video of how the Oscars are made. It is a beautiful and impressive building but our tour guide put the whole picture together in such a way it became a memorable experience. This is a must see!

The Dolby tour is a must. Absolutely loved the tour but the time went so fast. We even got to stand on the stage and see the winners walk. I would definitely recommend booking the tour. Denise Sydney Australia.

Absolutely fantastic tour!!!! Only short and sweet but it was perfect. Our tour guide Andy was great! You get to actually go on the stage and see what the audience look like. Honestly such a surreal experience! A must for all film and movie lovers!
Only thing I would say that would make this better is to be able to hold a real Oscar at some point in the tour!

I was unsure what to expect, but this tour was very good. We were allowed to take pictures on stage at the Oscars. Very moving experience although the tour was short overall. I was able to take my students on a memorable trip- and they had more fun than I did. The staff was very friendly and the tour guide was well-informed. A must-see in Hollywood.

This is just another famous theater.
Unless you're here for an event or play, skip the tour, as it is truly disappointing.

I stumbled across this theater, which looks very small from the outside but is massive.
I enjoyed walking on the outside, didn’t have time for a tour, wish I could have did one. It’s a must see.

Very knowledgeable tour guide with lots of interesting facts and stories. The place was empty which was good as we got to go on the famous stage and sit in the front row seats as he explained how everything works on Oscars night.

Where is the best place to park when seeing a show at the Dolby?

There is underground parking that links to the theater and all the shops an restaurants. Entrance is on Highland Ave. just before Hollywood Blvd. if you are headed south on Highland off the 101 freeway. Not cheap but convenient.

3,400 Give or take, if they have the orchestra barred off it would be less. So for instanceright now when Americas Got Talent is on, they have less seatings because the have that area cleared for the judge panel etc..

Can we enter the Dolby theater just to look around or must we take a guided tour?

You can press your nose against the glass but you will see very little, just a dimly lit lobby. You need to book the tour to see anything useful :-)

hi please, please help. we only have time to do one tour either TCL Chinese Theatre or the Dolby could somebody please tell me the difference between them and which might be better. how far apart are they when you are walking
Gogirl12345

They are quite close to each other, tour of the Dolby Theatre is truly 'behind the scenes' plus commentary about the Oscars and you stand on the stage. Chinese Theatre foot and handprints are outside, I'm not sure if you can go inside. Also of course the stars on Hollywood Boulevarde are right nearby.

I ate most of my meals at Mel's diner, a couple of blocks away. Great food & they had Groupons available at the time I was there so it was also a great deal!
Is it closed in the morning when there is an event in the evening?

Not always. You can call ahead or check the box office for any changes to the day's schedule. We were there on a day there was an event, but it didn't impact our visit.
