We did a group lesson at the Santa Monica location. The instructor was fantastic. Very patient and made us feel comfortable. We picked an easier time with low tides, waves got bigger with the time coming in. Loved that Learn to Surf provides the surf boards and wet suits. Location on the beach is easy to find and get to.

Had an amazing time learning to surf with these guys! They came highly recommended to us through a friend and rightly so. We had a group of 3 who had never surfed before and they were able to get us all on our feet and surfing in our first lesson. The instructors were all extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. And... More

My husband and I did a private lesson with Learn to Surf LA at Santa Monica Beach. Our instructor was great. He did a short on-land lesson and got us right into the water, maximizing the time we got to spend trying to surf. Our instructor worked hard, swimming back and forth between us to get us set up correctly... More

I was a total beginner but comfortable in the Ocean. Chris' pragmatic approach to learning to surf was a perfect fit. After some time on the beach doing the basics we were in the water. Encouraging and positive but also precise on the notes given to try and tweak. Despite some hairy conditions on the first two days all three... More

The whole family took our very first surf lessons with LearntosurfLA, Patrick made the process easy and gave us good advice about what time and where to book. We met at Santa Monica, and it was easy find the instructors. After a quick land tutorial and some trial and error in the water, they had us actually standing up on... More

It was my first time in LA and I wanted to try surfing for the first time. I booked online and they showed up at the Tower as expected. I didn't know what to expect at the beginning but everything went pretty well! The instructor was very helpful, he gave me some tips and guided me to catch the waves... More

My 13 year son has joined surf camp in Venice beach. It was awesome and unique experience for him thanks to professional and personal treatment of the coaches KC and Brandon. I would recommend "Learn to surf LA camp" both for the beginners and for more advanced surfers. Thank you, guys!

We absolutely would recommend Learn to Surf LA! Unlike one of their highly rated competition they were easily reached during the day. We were able to leave a message on their phone line which they promptly replied to. We also ran into the Learn to Surf LA team at tower 18 in the morning in Santa Monica and they were... More

Awesome experience today at Santa Monica. Brandon was great and my daughter (11yo) was on the board surfing well before the lesson was done. Now she says she wants to get a board and get back out there. Too bad we don't live by an ocean. Thank you Brandon!

Instructor was there on time and I had a blast. Could stand up and catch waves! This was due to a very proffessional and patient instructor.

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
