The area
Neighborhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

    Quick stop
Don't expect glitz and glamour, but I don't think its as bad as some of the reviews make out. Yes, there's the odd street seller and also random folks dressed up as Spiderman and whatnot harassing tourists for money, but it was clean enough from what I saw. That said, I only focused on the block between Highland and North Orange - maybe things get ropier elsewhere. The stars are the stars, you'll be interested or not. There's a few vendors offering to put your name on a vacant star which may be of interest to you. I think its worth coming for the photo opportunities, but not really worth hanging around.

    LA has the magic
I dreamed all my life of seeing Los Angeles like it was when I saw all those TV shows in the 70s and 80s and it didn't disappoint. Yes homeless people but this sadness is in every big city. LA had that special atmosphere and it is beautiful. Walked the blvd every evening as always something going on. Will be back. Didnt feel threatened (female and teenager visited)

    Good for people watching
We like to spend time at some of the bars along the Boulevard, good for people watching. Cabo Cantina is a great place as you can sit outside. Really nice tortillas and dips. Just keep bags out of sight. Really great book shop called Larry Edmunds, which is worth a visit. I'm always amazed how clean it is first thing in the morning when they are washing it down. Avoid the guys selling CDs who try to force them into your hand as they are usually blank. Keep your wits about you.

    Not what we expected.
Not what we were expecting. Took our girls to Hollywood Blvd to check out the Walk of Fame. It’s completely NOT how it’s depicted in movies. Litter and homeless people everywhere. We couldn’t walk a block without being bombarded by people selling souvenirs and t-shirts. The only enjoyable part of this visit was Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Its the only place in Hollywood we recommend visiting, very fun and educational place to take the kids! 👍

Visiting Hollywood blvd from DC was an anticipated adventure , drawn in by allure of Walk of Fame and Hollywood's glitz. However reality fell short of expectations. Amidst the excitement of spotting celebrity names, we were dismayed by dustbins and homeless individuals.
The final blow came when we returned to find our car towed, leading to an unexpected expense of ~$500. This experience left a bitter taste, highlighting the need for better signage and information regarding temporary parking regulations. it is frustrating that such location lacks proper infrastructure to guide visitors, leaving them vulnerable to hefty fines and inconveniences.

Although it must be on the list, but it is not that impressive and not that joyful. Beggers and homeless are prevalent, so take care. Walk of Fame is the main street including many popular museums, malls, Theaters, restaurants, and others.

I believe the city council is going to renovate the boulevard but the whole experience right now is one to be avoided. There was a poor drug addict stumbling all over the famous footprints and the approach to the Chinese Theatre is just grim. I would seriously advise families with small children to avoid at all costs. It's just not safe and the area is full of hustlers, addicts and pickpockets. How it was allowed to get to this stage is a mystery.

What an awful, disgusting place. Spend an hour here , maximum, and during the day at that. As per previous comments, there are many, many homeless here, which is terribly sad, but frightening when they are so drug affected, paranoid, delusional and you are just trying to walk down the sidewalk.
We started and finished a hop on/hop off bus tour and had a good look around and dinner. We then walked home the 2 blocks to our hotel in the evening and I have never felt so unsafe. The minute you step off the main drag, there is minimal lighting and homeless tents. I was with my husband and 18yr old son, but was still freaking out. It was an awful experience. There is zero police presence here. They need to clean up the area to return it to a safe area for tourists. I know I’m from Australia, but I have travelled the world for decades and was last here in 1990 when, ironically, it felt much safer.
