The bouncer was so hostile and seemed drunk...we did not enter, it was a bad representation of a club.! We were hassled for id, which we had, an over 40 group. NO reason to be abusive, just ask!

People, demand respect or move on!

Went on a Wednesday night; 5:30pm. Surprised at Happy Hour and the prices for cocktails were great. Had a rye old fashioned whiskey - great pour and delicious. My GF had a Mexican Moscow Mule - she said it was really good. Wasn't crowded - no surprise. But we had a nice time chatting on sofas while drinking our cocktails. Bartender was super friendly. We did not have time but they have darts, pool table and electronic games. Very large space. Music was a touch too loud - but no other issues. Great place!

Speakeasy type bar in the basement of the building. Very dark with young hip crowd. Expansive range of whiskeys from the basic to the very expensive. I had rye old fashioned that I found reasonably priced at $10.50. Did not request any special rye whiskey , but could have and paid a lot more. The place was large and offered games such as shuffle board etc. loved the discrete feel of the place.

Here at the blind donkey is in downtown Long Beach. A really cool bar located in the basement. You are greeted by a security guard where you take a small stairway going down that leads into the bar. You will find yourself discovering guns games, vending machines and a photo booth to entertain yourself whole enjoy cocktails. A dJ giving you the vibes to dance the night away and a crowd that is electrifying. If you are in Long Beach looking for a cool bar away from the chain restaurants this is a great bar to come to!

Went there for a few drinks tonight and had a great time. Our bartender was on top of things and made us great drinks. The gin and tonics was delicious and the bourbons were awesome! This place also had many cool games to entertain us all night!

I've been to the Blind Donkey a bunch of times over the years. I'm a Long Beach local and whiskey is my drink of choice. Their menu is extensive.

It's located just outside of the downtown core streets, down a small stair case, into the the filming location for Seb's in La-La Land. The place is usually packed Thursday through Sunday, so expect to stand. Tunes vary from old school rap (my fave) to indie rock.

The last visit was a huge let down. Typically the whiskey sours and old fashions are on point, but that night and I brought my gent and talked up the place. Perhaps my luck was the bar tender wasn't very good. I haven't been back since because my bourbon loving heart can't take the heartbreak again.

A group of friends and I were looking for a place to grab drinks after dinner and we are glad we stumbled upon the Blind Donkey. It is down stairs in a basement setting of a building but the vibe is relaxed and has different places where you can lounge on couches, sit at the bar, or play the assortment of games like shuffleboard, skee ball, and 4 person PacMan. We had a good time hanging out here and they had a good beer and cocktail selection - will definitely be back next time we are in the area! The music was quite loud especially when a DJ started playing a set but that is to be expected in a bar like this on a weekend night.

I met some friends here who were bar crawling. The drinks were good (we had a few old fashioneds), the karoake DJ was on point, great energy and the place wasn't too crowded. Would totally go back!

The concept is cool - a kind of speakeasy-style lounge tucked away in the basement of an old building only accessed by a set of long stairs in the alley. The Blind Donkey is spare inside, a big space with dim moody lighting and groups of tables scattered around a big circular bar that pumps out plenty of specialty cocktails, most of them adequate. There are TVs and games there too - darts and a pool table. The Happy Hour is the draw here, running from 5-8 with Whisky Sours, Moscow Mules and Old Fashioneds running $6. That's a pretty good deal if you're not too picky about your drinks and just want to get buzzed, which most of the crowd seemed to be there for. Bartenders are too busy churning out drinks to be chatty so be patient. Bad acoustics in a super-loud ooncrete-walled basement populated by 20-somethings galore...you get the idea. That combination makes sense for this place, so if you're looking for an intimate space to talk to your date, this ain't it. Street parking can be tricky especially on weekends - and I'm sure this place gets nuts on weekends. All in all an interesting discovery with a good happy hour, but nothing to rave about.

When travelling, we love to find interesting after dinner drinks. This was a very cool find.

Hidden in the basement sure adds to the atmosphere.

We sat at the bar and the bartenders were knowledgeable about their whiskies. The reason we were there was their extensive whisky list and it didn't disappoint.

Fun atmosphere , knowledge bartenders, excellent Manhattans.

Will return
