We had booked our Harbour Breeze cruise in advance of our late morning 2.5 hour whale watching tour. We had to check in at the kiosk approx 1 hour in advance to get our tickets. Went off to get a coffee then came back to get in the queue for the boat, which was a double decker catamaran.
We managed to grab a table on the top deck. for our family to sit at.
The cruise itself was really good. We were taken out through the harbour past the cruise ships and permanently docked Queen Mary.
Unfortunately on this cruise we saw no whales, but did manage to see quite a few pods of wild dolphins around the boat. The cruise also had an excellent guide on board from the local aquarium to tell us all about the sea life.
Nice relaxing 2.5 hours that was not let down by no whales.

Not a single whale, not a single dolphin. Boring trip plus if you are prone to sea sickness, you will feel horrible. Lost money and time. No money back, just a voucher for a year , which may be useless since many people are not from the area.

Looked at all companies and prices ranged from 19 dollars to 200 but these guys were only 35 dollars. Boat was clean and crew were very helpful. Paybar and food on board. First thing we saw were seals and then a pod of approx 500 common dolphins, all around the boat. We then went further out and saw 3 blue whales, absolutely worth every cent. Captain Mike even stayed longer to see the blue whales for longer, class!

Every time we visit LA this is one of out favourite things to do. Unfortunately we did not see any whales this time but there were loads of dolphins which came right along side of boat so we were happy. The boat trip is really great, especially when sea is a little rough. Great value for money.

Amazing encounter with a huge pod of dolphins. Unfortunately we didn't see any other whales. The people from the aquarium enriched the experience by narrating the experience, especially when we were with the dolphins. Overall a very positive experience.

I really loved this Whale watching trip. I have been on several whale watching excursions in the area and this was my favorite. We do live in the area, and I would definitely recommend this over Davy's Locker, or any in the Balboa/NewPort Area. So easy to get to, the parking is easy, laid out easy, friendly people, easy on and off the boat. The boat was great and I LOVED that they have an educator and a volunteer from the Aquarium of the Pacific on the boat. So informatitive. Nice clean boat. We unfortunately did not see a blue whale, but saw common dolphins, including babies! and some ridiculously awesome Risso's Dolphins (google them). HUGe animals, so cool and I guess pretty rare. I would recommend this trip. Buy online and save $10 dollars.

We did not see any whales this past week when we did the cruise, but we saw a lot of whales.
I am going to break it down to several categories:
EV parking and non EV parking-park in Aquarium of the Pacific parking structure. EV parking is through Charge Point. Recommend downloading the app before coming to the structure (it is a lengthy process). No one could tell us about the EV parking other than it was on the 1st floor and that there were about 20 spaces. We were able to locate the EV parking. The EV spaces face the Harbor and they are located near Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. We paid more for parking than non-EV drivers. The actual cost for our EV parking was $3 with the remainder left on our Charge Point account. We paid an additional $8.00 parking with validation from Harbor Breeze Cruise.
Arrive early to wait for boarding. Line grows quickly. Plenty of outdoor seating, but it fills up quickly. There is a large seating area inside. The only thing is that I wished that there was seating near the railing. Later on in the cruise I found seating outside as passengers went inside due not having proper wraps. I was able to find a seat the first row but I had to stand to see anything because people gathered near the railing. Trying to stand or walk can be difficult for some as this is a boat and not very smooth. Hats provide some protection outdoors, but they can blow off.
When the boat slows down, it is because they saw something. We saw a lot of dolphins. It depends on the time of year and location for spotting whales. We saw a lot of Orca whales on a whale cruise up in Alaska around the 3rd week of July.
Nice close up of the Queen Mary, the Long Beach Harbor lighthouse, the Lion lighthouse, as well as the dome building that once housed the Spruce Goose.
The Harbor Breeze Cruise is still a nice and relaxing way to spend your day.

We had opted for gray whale watching tour on June 21st. We were lucky to encounter both blue whale and gray whale. The crew was wonderful and they weren't hurrying the trip. Apparently the whale surfaces back after 8 to 9 mins of dive in. so they patiently stalled and waited for whales to come up again so that everyone gets a glimpse. The tour guide was filling us up with lots of facts about whales. We highly recommend this trip. we had a great time. It was an amazing experience.

I have gone whale watching in Dana Point and Newport Beach but I keep coming back to this company. I love their boats as they are comfortable and being up on the upper deck you can see more marine wildlife. They are very knowledgeable and know what areas to look for whales. I went on their first 6 hour whale watching and dolphin trip. I had a blast. I got to see the back side of Catalina Island for the first time. We saw 2 Blue Whales, lots of Common Dolphins, a few Bottlenose, a Mola Mola and some sea lions. It was a great day on the water. I hope they offer this 6 hour trip again in the future. 6 hours gives you a lot of time to look for marine life. You take your time looking and spend some time with dolphins or whales or other marine wildlife when you find them. The boat wasn't overly crowded. I felt comfortable being on board and actually forgot about Covid for a few hours.

We greatly appreciate your feedback. We strive to do our best to locate the sea life so that we may all enjoy them in their natural environment. Our captains are experts at their craft. Also our staff is on top of all of the current procedures in order to keep our passengers as safe as possible. We hope you join us again soon.

¿Con cuánta antelación se puede subir a los barcos para coger mejor sitio? Por ejemplo, si quiero ir al de las 3pm ¿a qué hora me recomendaríais llegar? ¿cuál es la hora límite para subir al barco?
How far in advance can you get on the boats to get a better place? For example, if I want to go to 3pm, what time would you recommend me to arrive? What is the deadline to get on the boat?

Hello,
We have whale watches every day at 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm. Our address is 100 Aquarium Way, Dock 2, Long Beach CA 90802. You can park at the aquarium parking structure across the street, we validate for half off the day rate there ($8 with validation). The whale watch is 3 hours long, and $45 for adults if you walk up or $35 if you book online ahead of time for week days. For weekends it is $50 walk up, and $40 online ahead of time.

I bought the tickets on the internet and I paid $35. That was in November, I don't know if prices change with the season.

Is someone who is in a wheelchair or using a walker able to easily get on/off as well as move around on the boats?
Pristineacc
Bakersfield, CA31 contributions
Getting on and off the boat wouldn't be a problem. There is an inside area with tables at the windows that would be suitable for someone using a walker or wheelchair. But since the boat is constantly moving wheeling or walking around prob would not be recommended . As it is, while the boat is in motion you are normally needing the rails to hold on to when walking from one side to the other. But still sitting on the inside area is good as well

I am going whale watching on August 8, 2016 what would you suspect that I wear?
MaryPat T
Saint Louis, MO28 contributions
Hi Vanessa,
It was March when we went and warm until we got on the water. It is very windy so something to block the wind would be perfect. I would wear capris or jeans and a light wind jacket. You will definitely not be too hot. You will love it.
How do I buy tickets
Californiafamilypv

You can buy them online (I believe they are cheaper) or at the booth opposite Bubba Gump's Restaurant (down from the Aquarium). Sometimes the Aquarium has a package deal- them and a whale watch ride. Get there EARLY. Traffic can be a nightmare !!

I would say yes. Just make sure that you keep an eye on them as it is an open top boat and anything can happen. Maybe bring other items to occupy their time and perhaps a blanket. It was very cold when we went and windy.
Are u guaranteed to see whales ?
