Great informative staff member
Jan 2020
The staff member who was working in January was extremely informative about this museum. The items shown are well presented and in a well thought out order. Unfortunately all the out side buildings were locked up. Well worth taking the time to enjoy this hidden gem

Absolutely Fantastic

This is a MUST SEE. They have done an exceptional job with having things is displays that are marked and readable. There is a chronological order of the valley from the Colorado river to the people who developed the Imperial Valley into the greatest vegetable producers in the USA. Many displays of historical items that are not around anymore. They have broken down the immigrants from the countries they came from and the their families have been contributing items ever since. They also display the native animals that live there and have a great cattle/cowboy section. Many antique machinery items are outside. Great local Veterans section. However the are closed during the hot summer months (June-August). Open Tues-Sat 10A-4P and Sun 12p-5p. You will be very happy to go there.

Be sure to check out this well planned museum. Full of local items from pioneers in the early 1900's to now, every nationality is represented here that settled in Imperial Valley. A bit hard to find but worth it.

The Imperial Valley is a collection of desert communities located along the California/Mexico border roughly 70 miles west of Yuma AZ. This facility offers a very thorough display from both an historical as well as cultural perspective. Truly a very attractive presentation. The staff is accommodating, pleasant, and helpful. Most definitely a worthwhile stop for those traveling through the area!

We went back in time discovering the influence of a melting pot of hard- working immigrants building the Imperial Valley's future.

Great find
Dec 2016
The Pioneer Museum is a great find. In the middle of nowhere, you will find a great piece of Americana. It is museum of the people and historical events of the area. All of the artifacts, original photos, and heirlooms have been donate or acquired from local families. The Japanese section is an amazing historical display of the contributions the local Japanese families. The museum hosts an event called a "World tour" on the first weekend of December annually. All of the local communities come together and have an open house. They provide samplings of ethnic foods, answer questions, and cultural entertainment. There are outdoor artifacts including one of first mobile homes, antique tractors, and a tank!
