About
At Benziger, we're about three things: family, great wine and healthy vineyards. For over 40 years, we’ve crafted expressive wines from our Sonoma Mountain ranch and premium Sonoma County vineyards. We’re proud to tend these sites using eco-friendly farming – each is certified Biodynamic, organic, or sustainable.
Our tours provide a behind-the-scenes look at our Biodynamic estate vineyard and include a tasting of winery-exclusive wines.

- Caroline CBoston, Massachusetts2 contributionsJulie's Birthday Celebration! On behalf of Julie, Fabiane, Thay and myself, I would like to sincerely thank you for such a magical and beautiful experience! Although it was raining all week, somehow the skies knew we would be doing a tour at Benziger and suddenly for those 2 hours the rain stopped. The whole experience was everything we hoped for from beginning to finish, from tasting the delicious and freshening Summer Solstice, to touring around the winery, learning how things are done, to the underground tunnels to the wine tasting in the end. We really felt very special and it was a moment none of us will forget! Thank you for making this possible for Julie's birthday! We look forward to the wines we are receiving at home, a box already came for Fabiane and I, I have another shipment coming in April and December. Thank you kindly and have a great day! David was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed four breathtaking viewpoints while learning about the vineyard history of biosustainable farming. We also learned about the mechanics of the wine processing and tasted three different varieties of wine. We would recommend this excursion to anyone traveling to the Sonoma area. - Alice FSeattle, Washington287 contributionsGorgeous Winery Property with Delicious WinesOn a recent trip to Sonoma County, CA, we only had time to visit one winery. On a recommendation from friends, we chose Benzinger Family Winery. The drive from Santa Rosa was so beautiful as we took rural back roads. The grounds are extensive and lovely. One can take a tour of the winery grounds in a wagon pulled by a tractor! The wine server for our tasting was extremely informative. Benzinger's is a biodynamic, sustainable, and organic winery; we learned so much about their heritage and methods. One of the best things about our tasting was that even though my husband favors red wines and I, white wines, we both liked everything we tasted so had a variety of wines shipped home.Thank you for taking the time to write a great review! Unfortunately, we couldn’t do a tour since we decided to stay in Sonoma at the last minute and couldn’t find any openings. We were able to enjoy a tasting though, and it was all we could imagine. Donna was very knowledgeable and informative so hopefully you get the chance to have her on your visit. The property is stunning! We were the only two in the seated tasting room on a Thursday afternoon. Karen was amazing! So knowledgeable about the wines and area. She had fabulous suggestions for other tastings and restaurants.

I arranged a 10 person pre-paid private experience at Benziger late October, that ended up being one of the highlights of our stay in Glen Ellen (we also went to Hamel, Abbot's, and BR Cohn). We started off touring the premises on an over-sized golf cart with a Benzinger family member who shared the history of the winery and all the things that makes it so special. We stopped to pick limes and eat figs off a tree, all while learning about their farming practice and touring the grounds. Then we got to see some behind-the-scenes winemaking following by a tasting in their cave. Overall, this private experience made us feel like VIPs, left us with a good understanding of their approach to wine making, included the most welcoming host (Jill), and ended with us shipping several bottles home. My only suggestion is to add some cheese to the tasting, then you'll really have it all!

Benziger is a winery and then some. There biodiversity program is interesting, and their grounds are exceptional. The tour is family friendly with a tractor-pulled ride through the vineyards. If the season is right, you can get out and taste the grapes (much sweeter than I would have expected).

Great stop at the stand-up tasting room. Patrick attended to us. Very knowledgeable and comfortable in answering our somewhat rudimentary inquiries.

We did a Tribute tour this Monday at the wonderful Benziger winery - Mike was a great guide, the views were beautiful, and the wine was excellent. Enjoyed learning about all they do at this family winery - helping to solidly why we love buying their wines!

We'll be staying in Glen Ellen in August...visiting our son for the first time in CA. Would LOVE suggestions on top recommended activities for the area. Thanks so much!

Ironically, I will be visiting Maine in late August. Glen Ellen is a great little town. Both Jack London State Park and Sonoma Regional Park are right there. Many wineries to visit in Glen Ellen and Kenwood. One of my favorites in Glen Ellen is the Benziger Tram Tour. Depending on when in August, you might catch a Broadway Under the Stars performance in Jack London State Park. I just saw a show last weekend and it is fantastic. Schedule and tickets can be found online. The group is Transcendence. I have tried almost every restaurant in Glen Ellen and they are all good. Top recommendations are the Glen Ellen Star or Fig Cafe. There is also an Asian themed botanical garden in Kenwood.
You are only 10-15 minutes from the town of Sonoma, which is well worth visiting to see the plaza. It is full of history, good food and good wine. The Tuesday night farmer's market is a "not to be missed" event.

Do you allow picnics? If so can you tell me the parameters? (For a few, with a tasting, no charge, with a tour, for members, etc)... thanks!

Hi Charles. Yes, we do have a wine club...in fact, we have three different clubs for you to choose from! You can find out more about our wine clubs on our website or in our tasting room. We also ship to Southern CA. Hope to see you at the winery soon!

We will be a group of four (Two adult daughters and my husband and I). My husband will not be participating in the wine tasting as he is the designated driver. We would like to take the Partners tour and tasting so I am asking how to arrange that with one non-participant in the tasting part of the experience. And how long should one expect to spend at your vineyard? We will be driving up from San Francisco stopping in Muir Woods along the way. Would a 1:30pm time slot be reasonable and would that be available on June 13 2016, my younger daughter's birthday?
Michelle W
Rohnert Park, CA1 contribution
Thank you for contacting us about the Partners Tour. You should anticipate being on property for about 1.5 hours. The Partners Tour is an immersive tour of the property that includes our vineyard and wine cave and it takes a bit to see it all!
Currently, we do have June 13th availability on June 13th on the 1:15 and 3:15 tour. If you are driving up that morning from San Francisco, and planning on making a stop along the way, I would suggest the 3:15 tour.
Because the Partner's Tour is limited to only 8 guests, we do not have an option for non-tasters. The fee is $50/person. Currently, we are running a special if you book online which lowers the fee to $40/person. You can book online through our website.
I would book soon as our time slots are filling up quickly! Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist with.
Thanks!

Is the tour pricing per couple or person? What is the wine trolley??

it's per person, and include wine tasting (over 21). I would love to go there again; informative, interesting, welcoming, and good wine. Well worth the money I would say
