Every once in a while, when traveling, you decide to check out something you see as you drive by.. This time we were bowled over. The museum contents are so numerous, well organized and explained, and presented in really interesting ways. It isn't just the round building seen from the road but a couple barns with vehicles, blacksmith shop, etc.; Old schoolhouse, jail, and cabin; and more. We loved the climb to the third floor for a view of the valley from the "crow's nest." Free! But you will want to make a donation and get something from their small but we'll stocked gift shop. Amazing find in this area. Not many people live here, but they can have a historical repository like this to share with visitors!

We stopped there not expecting much and enjoyed it quite a bit. Clearly this is a museum of love assembled by a passionate bunch of people. Lots of cool stuff to see with the family. Old equipment, guns,Indian baskets, buildings. Old prison. Plenty of stuff to go through. Way worth the stop. The old school building is very cool and allows you to be transported in time.

Similar to Kern County Museum down in Bakersfield. Community donated, re-built, and refurbished historic buildings from the region. Civil War era and lumber industry of late 1800's. All buildings have artifacts in-situ as if owner stepped out for lunch. Main museum building has typical museum with shelves and cases. Steep stairs to the conning tower for nice elevated view.

The collection of artifacts is out of this world. Indian baskets of course, but the doctor's equipment, all the different typewriters, the photographer's camera and enlarger with the old sign from his stop. Some of what they have is BECUASE it is a small town ... oh, those tea pots! The webelo's uniform and I enjoyed that photo of the five local sons who all served in WWII. The blue star flags, the dolls. The old furniture. And all of it local. oh, the round barn, too.

This is a great place to visit if you are in the area and have some time on your hands, in order to soak up some of the local history. There are many exhibits.....everything from native American artifacts to farm implements, and a school house. There are new things added all the time, including buildings. The locals had fund raisers for several years in order to bring the "pole barn," now on site, to this locale.

So many interesting artifacts, most of them from years gone by. The museum is a jewel. We spent a delightful day visiting with the curator as the place was being tided up. There are lots of old buildings and a even a school house. The Round Barn was built in the early 1900's. It was moved several times but is now on a permanent place. Very interesting indeed.

This museum was right across the street from our hotel. Many of my family items are inside so we spent quite a bit of time here. There are several additional buildings to walk through.
